I have a Gen4 Rail 9.8. Mid July 2025 (US), there was a firmware update to v16.19.0 (drive unit) . I had thought this would enable the eMTB+ mode based upon other forums and release notes from Bosch, but I didn't see that as an option (yep, understood that the bike can only have 4 modes at a time and that I'd need to select it as an available mode from within the Bosch Flow app -- eMTB+ is not an option). Then in November 2025, there was another update to v17.16.0. Still no-go with eMTB+ as selectable option.

I reached out to Trek about it and was told that I need to take the bike to a dealer. They need to connect to it, open a service request to Trek, wait for approval, connect again and then it should be selectable as an option. I haven't yet gone through the trouble but since riding season is still a few months away I thought soon might be good to take care of it. Anyone else experience the same thing and had success with a dealer to get eMTB+ on their Gen4? I have a feeling I'm going to head to the LBS and get some blank stares.

Yes, I am aware that this isn't 100Nm or increased power -- that was Gen5's IIRC. I'd just like to experiment with the eMTB+ mode because...why not?

My Gen 3 Trek Rail MY22 has EMTB+ avaliable. You don't need to take it to a dealer.

I'm on 17.16.0 Drive unit software. In the flow app I can select four of the following modes

Eco, Eco+, Sport, Tour, Tour+,Auto, EMTB, EMTB+ and Turbo

Same as this video

Huh -- not an option for me and am fully up to date firmware-wise. Thanks for verifying that it is possible. I guess it's off to the LBS to do what Trek suggested. Good thing I've got time before the riding season pick up!

So you don't have edit list at the bottom of the list same as the video?

You can go in and change the parameters of each mode in the flow app? Post a screen shot of what the flow app looks like on your phone?

Unfortunately, no. I don't have that option to select eMTB+ for loading to the bike. I also think it strange that it's being fussy.

Try deleting the flow app and reinstall on your phone.

This is off my phone

Yep, +1 for deleting and re-installing the flow app.
I had to do this several times to get emtb+ and 100nm on the gen 5.

It was a freaken pain in the arse. Just keep deleting and re-installing until it works.

I'll give that a try before I run off to the LBS. Worth a shot, thanks!
In case anyone is following, delete/reinstall of the Flow app had no difference (tried that a few times). Next stop, my LBS sometime next week to have them sort it out. Riding season is still a month (or more) away until the snow melts and the trails dry out so not a big deal -- just a bummer to have to load it up and shuttle it to the LBS. Attached is the options list I see. Still no eMTB+.

Side note; there was an update waiting to be installed. Update the SC to 17.19.3 and the battery to 17.8.3. Drive and remote stayed the same.

I have a suspicion I'm going through this trouble and it'll be "meh" and I'll just stick with what I currently have. :p

Okay so you can add different modes. You just don’t have Emtb+ to choose from.

I didn’t like it as it’s basically similar to turbo so I switched back to the original 4 that I like.

Update: After dropping the bike off at my LBS, I've made it into the eMTB+ club with my Gen4. Took a while to get there (apparently there was some back and forth with Trek until the "right" Trek person stepped in). $20USD later and now I wait until the trails dry out so I can give it a whirl. Bonus; also picked up Eco+ and Sport.
