@Stihldog - "smarticles" is going straight into the vocabulary, I'll have you know. And yes - kinda useful sometimes is probably the most accurate review I'm going to get, and I'll take it. Carved onto my silicon tombstone.

Good thread this one, though. Under-torqued bracket bolts, a TS25 bit, some blue Loctite, and a 1.5-mile pootle to the pier. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon's diagnostic work. Real test is still the Downs under full load - but the signs are promising.

Now we wait.

Morning gents so took the bike for a proper ride early this morning to avoid the heat just under 20miles up and over the downs And it’s good news the creaking has not returned brakes are starting to struggle so Nxt job is brake service one job after another again just want to thank @Greg Watts and @Stihldog for your advice saved me from going down a potentially expensive rabbit hole

@A.Collins1981 - that's the result right there. 20 miles up and over the Downs with the motor under proper load and not a creak to be heard - that's the real-world proof the frame mount fix did its job.

Glad we got there without sending you down the "it must be the motor, strip it out, ship it off" rabbit hole. A tube of Loctite and some patience tends to be less expensive than a warranty claim you didn't need.

On the brakes - fairly standard eMTB lifecycle, that. The extra weight and the tendency to find steeper descents once the bike's running properly do accelerate pad wear. If it's just feel and modulation starting to go rather than full contamination, a bleed is usually enough. If they're already spongy and dragging, pads and a bleed together while you're in there.

@Stihldog's post on regular preventative maintenance is worth a read while you're in the servicing mindset - he makes the point well that staying ahead of small jobs keeps the bigger ones at bay.

All the other stuff is typical for the average MTB. But there are some things that become mysterious with our EMTB’s.
