Riding along and come to an incline say I’m in Trail and the motor pulls as it should, then all of sudden the power decreases as if I turned it down to Eco. Sometimes I knock it down a couple of gears and the power comes back sometimes it doesn’t. Anyone experienced similar, thanks.

Torque sensor problem

Check this out. I think you need a new motors/repair.

We have 3 levos and they all do this one has a upgraded motor in but still the same .Time to change the fleet

I've since had a couple more "failures" since. Both have been due to a bearing moving in the motor potentially after pedal strike. Symptoms varying power and sometimes a scraping sound.

The bearing is glued in but moved each time. Last time Ebike Motor Centre fixed for £70.

I had similar fluctuations, the battery died a couple weeks after it started happening. I thought torque sensor, but ended up the battery.

Having a Gen 3 Levo here is my quick story.
A week ago I was riding along on the flats and was coasting and looked down and saw the motor rotating on it‘s own for about 5 seconds.
I thought for sure that the belt snapped and when I would go and resume pedaling and apply pressure to the cranks they would spin with no engagement, but I was wrong everything worked fine as it should for the rest of the ride and no error on the display.

Three days ago I was going up a slight hill section and the motor would work as it should and then cut out with zero assistance. Assist, no assist, assist, no assist until I reached the top.
I had a “Motor Error Check App” on the display so I shut it down, disconnected the battery and it came back up fine for about 5 minutes until it started to assist, no assist again. No error this time. Turned off and then back on like before and rode back home with no issues.

Dropped bike off at my LBS and of course they couldn’t get it to replicate the issue when they test rode it but they were able to see the error codes that it showed.

They are going to do additional testing today but the guy mentioned that it could be a “voltage issue”
might be the cause. He also agreed it sounds like a Torque Sensor as I mentioned to him as probable cause.
He is opening a work ticket with Specialized anyway and wants to give them as much info as they might need upfront so we don’t wait 2 weeks until they contact him back and need some other test info.

I asked him if they would replace the sensor and he said they would probably replace the whole motor but he wasn’t 100% sure until it all processes through.

Being the second owner the Warranty is still good until mid Oct. of this year so I got that going for me.

Currently have 100 charge cycles on battery and about 3k miles on the bike Motor.

Will update later when I get update on my bike status.

I had same trouble couple years ago and they swapped whole engine. I don´t have warranty anymore and I think i have same symptoms again.
Does anyone know how to solve this by yourself? This is first time that i heard anything about moving bearings and torque sensor troubles, but it sounds that might be the reason.

happened to me too. at the first times i disconnected and connected again the battery, and continued riding. once this did not help, i took them to the shop. the shop immediatly (from their expiriance) decided that the problem was in the main harnes. (the connection between the battery and the system). i bougt a new harness.
several rides later it happened again. and again. and again.
i checked the continuity of the wires in the old harness and found it 100% well.
i was advized to use "conductive grease" between the harness and the battery. to make better contact. so logically i checked the battery contacts with a magnifing lens. and found that one of the main pins did not look quite 100% as the other one. took the battery to a workshop that deals with batteries. he found a similar socket and replaced it.
since then - happines. i trust again my bikes to go out for difficult/long/steep rides.

It’s been 3 weeks since I brought my Gen 3 Levo into my local bike shop, specialized dealer.
They kept the bike for 3 days to try to simulate the issue I stated earlier.
They saw the “ motor error” info and got it to fluctuate in the same manner I had brought it in for.

They opened a “work ticket” with Spec and still haven’t heard any response.
Been 26 days.
So much for having issues handled in a timely manner, out of sight out of mind I guess.

Motor has not had the same issues since I got it back from the shop.
I know they did an update but that was it.
Warranty is up in Oct. Of this year.
We’ll see how it plays out.
