Anyone running the green pads up front and the red pads in the rear?

I mainly ride in dry/dusty conditions and trying to decide which of the 3 stock pads that come with the Hope EVO GR4 Brake set I should start out with?

Purple is the eMTB specific model, right? Sorry, I can't see the difference between purple and blue. I ran them for a while after they were recommended by the Galfer representative. I was ready to start using their pro race pads, but Galfer Guy told me not to do it, and I'd be happier with the eMTB pads. He was right.

Greens all year and in all conditions (UK) because I loathe bedding pads in and would rather pay a tiny bit more money to skip it!

We're on the same page about paying a little more for convenience of not bedding in pads. Do your brakes make much noise?

Nope, they make pretty much zero noise unless contaminated. The Galfer greens are much quieter than the Hayes sintered pads I used to use.

I recently tried a set of Galfer reds because I was at the bike park and hadn’t taken spares, and that was all they had in stock, and the noise was unreal, I won’t be using them again! My tame mechanic said it’s because I’d not bedded them in (because I forgot it’s a thing that needs doing…) and it’s just confirmed my decision to stick to the greens.

What brakes you have, if you can use blue pads (normally for road riding).
I have Shimano and they don't even come in blue.

I personally use black on my MTB and black on the front and purple on the rear on my eMTB.

Brake pads and tires to me are things I'll experiment with until I find something I really like. I'm interested in trying Galfer Purple pads, but I can't find anyplace online that has their FD465 (FD465G1652 for Purple) pads available for US sale.

Where are the US riders sourcing Galfer?

I got my galfer purples for mavens from “The Lost Co.” They’re out of Bellingham, Washington. Free shipping on orders over $50.

I'm waiting for the postman to drop off a 223mm rotor and galfer purple pads for my mavern bronze brakes on my Mondraker crafty.
At £20 I hope they are amazing 🤔

Yeah I do that combo with my hopes on my MTB and it’s a great combo - the greens are great all round but wore quick on the back. The reds are lasting well. Both have withstood long steep downhill without fade. I’m thinking of trying purple on my Mavens on my Bullit though just to try them.

Jenson USA has them on sale right now for $19.99!

I've bedded in some Galfer Shark rotors with green Hope pads. If I change to purple, will I have to sand and clean the rotor thoroughly first to get good performance and low noise? How do the compounds differ?

I seem to find that the greens glaze over easily, at least with my bad braking practice (lots of brake dragging), and end up feeling weak. Are the purple and red better in that regard? Never tried purple but the reds had much less power than greens.

I’ve swapped between resin, sintered and purple pads with no bother. I just use plenty of brake cleaner on the rotor, I don’t get to obsessed about bedding pads in either, just a couple of stops to make sure everything works as expected then just ride
I find the Galfer purple are the best for the riding I do at my pace, wheels on the floor, I’m lucky enough to live and ride on the outskirts of the Lake District

All I did was clean the rotors with 91% isopropyl alcohol prior to changing from the stock sintered pads on my Levo to the Galfer purples. I bedded them in with approximately 15 brake runs each (front/rear). The honking of the stock pads are gone and I know longer have to worry about horny wild burros answering my bike's mating call. I find the purples far easier to modulate than the stock sintered which could easily lock up a wheel with minor lever pressure. My riding is done entirely in dry conditions in Arizona.

Kudos to B-man and Polar for the recommendation of the purples. They work great and i did not plunge to my doom off of a mountainside. ;)
