Does the Focus Jam2 6.8 (2024) have clearance for more than 2.6 inch size tyres?
@Cygg The official spec for the 2024/2025 JAM2 lists
29 x 2.6" as the maximum tyre clearance - that's the same across all trim levels including the 6.8, and it's what the frame is designed around.
So going to a 2.6 x 29 is exactly what the bike is built for - you're not pushing any boundaries there, that's just stock spec territory.
Can you go wider?
Whether there's hidden clearance for a 2.8 is less clear - tyre manufacturers' stated widths and actual mounted widths diverge quite a bit depending on rim width, and a 2.6 tyre on a wider rim can measure close to 2.8 in practice.
But Focus don't spec or certify beyond 2.6", so if you go wider you're in "fingers crossed the mud flap doesn't rub" territory rather than anything guaranteed.
Short version: 2.6 x 29 - yes, no problem, that's what it's designed for.
Anything wider than that isn't officially supported, and you'd want to physically test clearance before committing to a tyre purchase.
What's the reason for asking - looking to swap rubber, or just checking before you buy?
