Good Morning

Looking for a 4amp charger for a Focus Jam with Shimano E8000, I have been trying to search eBay with no luck in the UK. I have the common charging issue but I have no response from Focus and no dealers in the UK can help.

If anyone can help please drop me a message.

Thanks

No Focus presence in the UK as you're finding out which makes me wonder why they persist with Olly & Deaks but that's another story. Your best bet is to source one in Europe & suck up the delivery & taxes. Not ideal but Focus won't deal with end users & that's that. Ridewill are a significant Focus dealer in Italy, not sure of this is the one you need but 200 Euros + shipping & import duty might be the best you can do.

I just did a search for Derby e-bike charger and this one popped up;

There’s a few used ones for sale in Germany as well, search for part number ‘BSC42004000’.

I have 2 chargers for my Shimano Focus Jam2 with the E8000, not sure whether to part with one though in case mine goes wrong like it did when I first got the bike.

What are the symptoms of your charging issue? Is the charger just dead?

I haven't used it for a while and the battery has gone flat. I think it may be the charger after reading some of the treads it starts to charge then a relay type clock comes from the charger and it shuts off. If anyone is not to far away from Wiltshire I would love to plug it on and see what happens. Just incase the battery is dead.

I suspect the battery, or more likely a cell within the pack, has gone below its minimum safe voltage and gone into protection mode.

If the charger relay is kicking in/out, it would suggest it’s failing at the pre-charge initialisation and voltage checks.

Have you had the battery out of the frame and checked the voltage with a multimeter?

Totally showing my ignorance here. But as long as you feed the correct Amps and Voltage into the bike's battery, does it matter which charger you use?
I agree that you would have to do some work on the plug.

Therefore get any charger that meets the output spec, remove the plug from the output end of the old charger and wire it onto the new charger and away you go! OK, you also need to identify which wire does what, but how hard can that be? There must be some wiring diagtrams about on the internet.

When my original charger stopped working I tried to do exactly that Steve, but it was no good. There are 4 other wires on the OEM charger as well as the main +/- ones, they clearly do some comms between the BMS and the charger before the battery will take or the charger deliver any voltage.

I tried, this was during Covid lockdowns so I had plenty of time to try and work out what was going on whilst I waited for a replacement OEM charger.

Out of sheer routine came back home and just thought let's switch it on and see what happens and for the last hour it is been charging the little green light flashing happily. So I think new charger it is.
Thanks for all the replies

Am avut aceeași problemă. A trebuit să scot bateria și să resetez BMS-ul, ceea ce mi-a permis să încarc complet bateria. S-ar putea să nu fie încărcătorul tău, sper că te-am ajutat.
C.um ai resetat bms?
