First Ride: 2026 Commencal Meta Power SX Avinox

I can confirm at least in Australia that the bikes are available on the 9th for those that had the first pre-orders in. Any of the bikes on the website now that state May/June etc are all the next batch. I can also confirm the Meta's will have the M2S
Did Australia already have a batch of M1 avinox Meta Powers? I believe NZ stock arrived late 2025

No. Are you sure NZ did? This release on the 9th of April is the first time any Commencal has been offered with an Avinox motor. Unless the M1s you saw were potentially test mules?

No I’m not sure. They have stock around the corner from my work currently. They are NOT m2 models though.

Are you sure the one you have on order is Avinox M2?

Yep, 100% sure.

Strange if they have them in April in Aus they are waiting till June/July over here... NZ Normally gets Commencal stuff really fast.

Commencal NZ website has always said April 26. I thought the whole reason was they were waiting for the M2, they only announced the bike about a year ago.

Even if it’s not official, I can only assume that the release was postponed until after April because it was already known that the new Avinox motor would be used. It’s also possible that the information about the new motor came very late, which could mean that there are already Commencal Meta Avinox bikes with the M1 in existence—the question is, what will happen to those bikes?

@BT180, I don’t assume that you received this information through official channels, but you still seem 100% certain that it will be exactly like that—how come?

I have the Meta Power Sx with the Rock Shox on order here in Colorado. The Commencal US HQ is close to me, and that is one reason I went with them. I am still not too excited to buy an e-bike without local support. Anyone want to buy a YT Decoy? hahaha.

I put my money down about 6 months ago and I have to be in the first group.

The local guy Commencal guy Max is very coy about the availability date. We both know April 9th is the big reveal and all I am told is "April". I have a trip to Moab planned soon and would love to have the new bike.

The original question was what are you going to do with it? Ride the shit out of it. No plans to replace anything for a bit. Just break it in and have fun. I hope the range is good, I like big high alpine rides here in Colorado and this needs to deliver.

I just noticed that in Commencal's recent video for their Avinox model it appears as M2, but in this case it ends with an "S", specifically: M2S (it appears at the end of the video). This makes me think there might be variants of the M2? Well, tomorrow we'll find out, it's the big day.

Hi,
Lots of discussion on this, and the consensus is that the M1 will become the M2S and a new slightly lower tier will be called M2 (probably).

Commencal updated their spec sheet. Weight of these is looking pretty hefty

I'm just looking for the weight information, and I can't seem to find it (the Rockshox model that I ordered).

Edit: ok, I can see it for Fox models for instance, 24kg... holy!
Edit 2: compare for instance with Mondraker, full carbon, 22.8... almost 1kg less, tbh, it is amazing the work done by Commencal.

130nm and 1300 watts. holy.

Are we at the point of overpower?
It's crazy, to be honest, I would have preferred the same or even lower performance in exchange for seeing more refined/compact frames.

May pay to read the specs carefully. That commencak weight is a small frame with no pedals. Your rockshox model will be between 25.x kg in med or large with pedals.

The small also has a 600wh battery, so add +1kg on other sizes with 800wh.

Finally, the weights for all the models are finally out. All are for size S (600W battery) without pedals:
  • PODIUM (fox 160):
    • 25 kg
    • 55.12 lbs
  • SIGNATURE (fox 160):
    • 24,1 kg
    • 53.13 lbs
  • ROCKSHOX (rockshox 170):
    • 26 kg
    • 57,32 lbs
  • ESSENTIAL (fox 160):
    • 24,65 kg
    • 54.3 lbs
  • RIDE (rockshox 170):
    • 25 kg
    • 55,11 lbs

I have a L on order here in the US. With the 800w battery extra frame size this thing is going to be close to 60 pounds. That is a BIG NO from me. I spent 3 days in Moab heaving my Giant Reign about 55 pounds over rocks and dips. That will wear you out.

I pre-ordered the RockShox Pure White in a size M, and I find it tremendously heavy (given the weight for S size), even being aluminum. In fact, I've seen the weight of the Commencal Bosch 800, and it weighs less!

Here’s mine. Size medium with Double Down tyres, HT pedals, AXS dropper, Hayes Dominions, Deity stem, OneUp carbon bar and Deity grips the changes I’ve made. She’s a hefty girl but rides well!

I measured my sons normal meta sx bikes 1 Small and 1 Medium. They came in the same weight so I would not work to much about frame sizes making a huge difference.

First of all, for God's sake, what a beautiful bike, I'm in love with her, the second thing is congratulations! Enjoy it, it must be amazing! I have to wait until July! And the third and last thing, seeing the size of your bike and the setup you have... honestly, I don't really believe the official weight data they say.

one of the biggest problems of the normal meta sx is that they are uncomfortable to pick up due to the shock placement, This looks like it has the same problem but on a much heavier bike.

I have the regular SX too and yes it’s difficult to find a good grip if you have to lift it. They’re both very similar which was part of the appeal to me

I love this pic! It's incredible that the battery and motor are under that frame... of course, it's still wider than the Meta SX, but the Avinox is starting to have an incredible profile when you compare it to the Meta SX. Thank you so much!
