ep801 firmware updates with android phone

Hi -
Wondering if people are still having problems updating with the new motor. Any experiences, good or bad?

I'm using an android phone on a Canyon Spectral:ON with an ep801. I have firmware updates showing for motor and head unit and I'd like to get the new FW, don't want to brick it. Thanks!

Hmm ... somebody must have a motor-bricking tale to tell. Anyone updated Shimano firmware lately with the phone app? Success or failure?

I've updated without issue, just don't walk away or disconnect your phone while pushing the update.

Put your phone in "flight mode" first, turn on wifi and start updating. Leave the phone near the bike during the process.
I successfully updated two bikes (mine Orbea rise and my wife's) several times.
