EP8 Merida E160 E020 issue

Hey anyone have this E020 fault and it ended up being the motor?
I'm away on a riding trip and my bike came up with this fault. Then cut off. Now won't turn back on. I test the wiring from the battery to the motor with a multimeter and it all seems good. Took to a shop and they told me it needs that wiring replaced.. they think. Seems weird. But they couldn't get the bits til after I go home anyway. I feel like it could be the motor...
