Is there any good sites to obtain a formal valuation of my eMTB, unfortuntely I need this for legal purposes but don't plan to sell, just need a fair written market valuation. I cant find many sites online that offer this or reliable estimates/my brand from those I've tried. Is this something a LBS would provide?

Bike is an Med Amflow PL Carbon with some upgrades (Forks & Wheelset) only 6 months old and light usage.

My theory is that when you see a bike for sale and use that as a comparison that there is a factor that is forgotten. If it is for sale then there is a reason it has not sold. If it was a value it would have sold already. I pick a number and start the process, if there is not much response, reduce the price until it sells. Assets are a depreciating commodity, the longer it takes the less it is worth unless there is a phase change in currency exchange rates. If availability is limited and a market where having something now instead of waiting is desirable, a premium can be assumed. Good luck, I will start the bidding at 10 bucks :) With a new generation of bikes becoming available in the spring this would be a good time to start the process.

It’s only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it……..
Regardless of what you think it’s worth, second hand Ebike prices are shite and always will be 😣
Good luck in your endeavours

Insurance purposes = replacement cost. Other purposes, whatever it's worth in the 2nd hand market. The 2nd hand market is not overflowing with Amflow bikes & what prices there are, are high but also all over the place. An LBS will always price a bike with resale & therefore a margin in mind, so barely worth bothering with unless you need quick cash & you say you're not selling anyway.

So given it's hot cakes right now, I would price it a few hundred under retail for whatever purpose you require & move on. Although there is an argument to suggest a bunch of bikes with Avinox motors that will be better than the Amflow are round the corner & at that point a glut of used Amflows will hit the market & tank the price, so chop chop!

Thanks I know what I’d estimate for sale price and feel reasonable confident it wouldn’t be too much below retail given lack of 2nd hand ones. But I need something independent. I found ebikebuyer.com which lowballed it but to be fair that’s not expected from a reseller.

There was a good idea mentioned above.

Ask your insurance company how much they would give you if it were stolen. ;)

Going off topic a little & I'm not sure whether it's the same in France but you can specifically insure items for their full replacement value here, as opposed to a depreciated market value.

At 6 months I would just put the new price.

Could I ask how a toy becomes a "legal purpose" , I mean seriously if you miss the mark by 10 or 20 % in value were talking about fairly insignificant values in this economy. Were the value to become enough to show up on the radar screen there would be a "Blue Book". I know that nothing is inexpensive these days but we are closer to "pizza and a beer" than "Fraberge Egg" in the grand scale (smile)
