Hello,
I hope for help. I am connecting a Garmin Edge via the Power Mount to Bosch Smart System Motor. Unfortunately Garmin offers only Cable for BES2 Motor and I found othing else in the web.

These are the specs of the Power Mount:

• Power input: 4-14V, 1A max
• Power output: 5V, 775mA max

So I bought the cable connector for BES2,and plan to cut the plug BES2 and replace by plug for the HPP output on Smart System.
BUT there is a small part in the cable an I am not clear what this is for and if it could caus a problem.

This is NOT part of the cable for Shimano STEPS. Here is a pic:

Here is the answer: It is the connection of the 4 wires coming from the power mount with the two wires going to Bosch engine.
In case of the adapter cable for Shimano STEPS it has four open wires and a label that says: wind black and blue together and red with yellow.
