Has anyone experimented with lights wired into the battery of the E10? I know that there's a USB output on the DPC240 display, but the current supported by that output (500mA) seems way too weak to power a light. A version of the display cable that plugs into the motor with an additional 6v output is available on AliExpress for a few quid, has anyone used one of these for powering lights?

Keen to have lights that aren't dependent on their own power source, but less keen on being the first to try it!

My lights draw just under 0.9 A at 6 volts which is above the display limits, maybe a Email to Bafang by someone who has contact with them.

I had a contact but he seems to not be responding anymore, which probably means he's moved on.
 
If I'm reading this page correctly, then the max current draw for lights is 3 amps. It's a little cryptic, and only an educated guess though!
 
Found another reference page for M600 specs here. Turns out it's not 3 amps, but 3 watts, which correlates with the 500mA output on the USB port of the display. Bum.
 
I seem to recall from another forum that they were using that live feed to trigger a small relay which in turn was being fed by a DC - DC drop down voltage feed from the main battery live.
 
I was looking for the same solution, but i ended up with hard wiring a dc-dc converter into the frame and connected lupine sl s 12v and lupine c14 12v

I am interested in running a Magicshine Monteer 12000 from the main battery, power draw should be 60W peak (14V, 10Ah battery, 2:30 runtime).

Will a 12 DC-DC-stepdown be enough, or should I try to find one with 14V?
I don't care if i loose a few lumens peak, 12000 is insane anyway.

So one uses the power of the Bafang light output (low watts) to switch the DC-DC converter off and on? So the lights will switch off, if the motor is turned off?
Would you maybe be so kind to send me an example of such a part, so I can use this to research further? I am an electrical noob. :-(
 
For my E10/m510 build, I hardwired in a Magicshine ME1000 light to the 6V output from the m510. I bought an extra cable on Aliexpress for the m510 that had the remote display connector, along with a lead for a light, plus a throttle lead (unused).

The ME1000 isn't necessarily the brightest MTB light, but the m510 6V (? 5 or 10 W) drives it beautifully. I'm really happy with it. It even turns on & off automatically depending on ambient light (controlled by the m510 display, not the light). If I want it on during the day, simply long pressing the '+' on the display does the job.

I joined the light cable to the ME1000 using shrink-wrap-solder connectors, then shrink wrap again over the top.

I'd like to do something similar for the rear light, currently just a rechargeable one, but haven't quite found the suitable setup. I think (??) there are similar cables compatible with the m500/510 that have extra leads for a light.

(damn, I still have to write up my E10 build. Was aiming for sub-20kg but only ended up at 21kg. Still a few changes to make to the drivechain.)
