I would like a slightly shorter stem on my one sixty 8000 but the current set-up with the internal cable routing is a bit wierd , can anyone tell me what's required to swap it out .
Ps I've already re routed the cables as I don't have much faith in the design not causing damage to them .

I will be interested to see an informed reply on this one.
But if you have already rerouted the cables then why should it be a problem to fit a normal stem?
Subject to the blocks that stop the fork from striking the frame.

You can put on any stem you like. The weird shaped spacer will still work. You'll need some round ones for any spacers above the stem which looks a bit better anyway. It's just a cosmetic thing.

cryptic 😃 existing stem and spacers seem an odd shape , im no bike mechanic so im just asking what i need in order to move to a conventional stem and spacers .

Ideally i would like to loose the weird shaped spacer too , but ive no idea what bits of kit i would need to do so.

To the best of my knowledge (I haven't replaced my stem, but I did fit an EDC tool which required the round spacers above the stem), you can replace all of the stock spacers with round ones and leave the original headset cap in place, if you want. I don't know if you can replace the entire headset or get a headset cap without the hole for the cables though. But round spacers should be fine, if that's what you want.

I wasn't trying to be cryptic, I really do want to see an informed answer.

I removed the light, changed the stem and spacers on my 2021 E-One Sixty 8000 a couple of months ago. I also filled the small hole on the headset cap with some part epoxy as otherwise your headset bearings will fill up with water incredibly quickly.

I fitted up an Industry Nine stem, hope headset spacers and re-routed the LCD cable through the side vent on the bike.

Also to note that the mode controller cable runs internally through the handlebars, so it may not be compatible with all stems due to where the cable comes out of the bars. (I changed my bars at the same time and got some of the little shimano rubber bands)

there you can find the part number for the headset. every merida dealer can order it.
this headsetis in every 2020 modell and i fits also in the 21 modell (same diameter of bearings and topcap) it uses round spacers instead of the oval topcap version of the 21 modell. so you can run every stem you want. but you must also run the cable coming from the motor to the display through the thermo gate instead through the headset topcap (21er version)!

I routed my computer cable and light cable through the existing cable block as supplied with the alloy frames. Just drilled two new holes in the block. Not as tidy as through the headset, but so much safer! Also noticed both bearings were stuffed after 10 months ago ordered some new ones.

There was a 2 month old carbon e160 at my lbs this afternoon which had cut through its cable with the knock block...
