Did the Dyname 4.0 just got a software update that increases max power output to 1000W?
I keep reading things like this on the facebook group. Seems like RM wants to keep up with the avinox motor and figured it could squeeze out a bit more power from the dyname 4.0.

Anyone had this upgrade installed and can comment on the experience?

Commenting to see if anyone knows as well. I have a 2022 instinct powerplay and plan on buying the overtime 2.0 pack soon so this would be nice to know!

Whats the story on this 4.0 upgrade? I know the s4 lite motor on the SL has a power bump, any info for us non Facebook users?

i did this 1kw upgrade + sport mode + jumbotron display updated all at once.

Mine was done in Feb, 2026
These are the firmware & s/n versions

with this new sport mode turned on, the e-power comes on at ~70 rpm.
Turned off, e-power defaults back to 80-85 rpm

new main display groups more info into one screen, now with

you can toggle out of the new display back to the old displays as they still exist.
when i got my bike back from my lbs,
I felt the improvements immediately.
THen when i took it out for an afternoon ride, I felt more power everywhere, and w/ sport mode on, power kicked in sooner, which helps on slow technical sections.

I've put ~20 miles on it. so far, no problems with the updates.
If you got yours done, and don't feel improvements right away, then chances are good that the tech didn't do it right.
the software to update the firmware isn't very intuitive. So it's easy for a tech who hasn't done it to not know how the 1st couple times.

After damaging my Powerplay I booked it in with my local ex-RM dealer to be fixed (properly). He informed me that there’s two updates available.
One is the 1000w boost mentioned above, and the other is a 750w version which I guess is to keep the power legal for eMTB races.
I drop it in next week, hopefully it’s not too badly damaged and I get it back for the weekend. And hopefully the battery isn’t effected too much by the increase in power, I will probably limit it from the menus as I don’t usually use ludicrous very much anyway.

Confirmed this with a reputable dealer, he said the stage 3 1000w is pretty violent on ludicrous , and he has a concern about the hub life and chain life, which is a concern of mine, I cannot get more then 200km on a chain.
I am going to try and get both my bikes done on Monday.
Also the dealer has to have the latest update hardware, apparently there was new equipment released yhis past January and my local dealer didn’t have the ability to update my bikes. Going to go to a more knowledgeable dealer that has done these update.

My question is to people who have the 1000w upgrade, can you still make your own power level tunes? I hardly use ludicrous, mostly I am in eco and trail, but I have those power levels turned down over the stock tune.

I have that similar problem. I want the latest update, don’t race so 750w isn’t really important, but don’t use ludicrous very often and have turned it down to 85% in settings currently.
I’m hoping that doing the same improves battery life after the 1000w update (or at least keeps it similar to standard 660w) by turning all modes down by another 10/15%. This way I can benefit from the slower cadence of sport mode, but still get a leg workout by dropping power % and lowering boost to -1.

Hope that makes sense, it’s hard to get across in a short sentence. 😂

Yep, that makes sence. I do the same for leg strength training.

I am glad the power levels can be still modified.
I was also wondering if the ability to make custom tunes was still available, my second tune is turned way down for very long rides and I currently have ludicrous set at a lower power one tune 1 and 2.

Just did the 1000w update on both bikes, the so called violent acceleration like I was previously told was a stretch, there is a definite improvement overall, it a little quicker to get to max speed, the torque remains the same according to the computer. I watched it being done. I tried the 750w update first on my instinct before going to the 1000w.
My altitude was less noticeable, its an 11sp and heavier then my instinct, I definitely do not feel the urge to dial back the lower setting on ludicrous on both bikes.

So for those wondering about battery drain with the 1000w tune, I took both bikes out on my usual route, for a test. It doesn’t seem like the tune is affecting my battery life. I actually hit ludicrous more often just to test it out on certain sections. Imo it seems like the bikes work more efficiently and higher power modes are not as necessary as they were in the past, I came back to the house with the same percentage left as I did last year. Not sure how this stacks up with the competition, but this new tune with the sport mode activated is nice and smooth.

For those wondering here are my settings, tune 1 eco 25%, trail 45%, trail+ 70%, ludicrous 98%. Boost +2.

Tune 2 is turned down farther on eco and trail, no boost setting, I use that on very long rides.

For some reason I thought was in my head, but My wife mentioned it to me as well, at 0% power it seems like its much easier to pedal then before, we shut the power off when the kids ride with us., for those wondering.
