Been thinking of getting another battery for my bike but at 1200$ it’s a lot and would I use it a lot as I’m not doing a heap of extra long rides over 60 km so would the new extension battery pack work ? Any thoughts and if anyone has used one ,thanks Dave

COMPATIBILITY OF THE POWERMORE 250 WITH VARIOUS ELECTRIC BIKES

Whether your e-bike can be equipped with the Smart System Range Extender depends on various factors. In principle, all bikes with the Smart System are compatible. To ensure communication between the PowerMore 250 and your bike, you must have the latest software installed on your system. You can install this software through the Bosch eBike Flow App. Additionally, the manufacturer of your e-bike - for example, KTM - must have enabled the Range Extender option. If this is not the case, please contact a nearby Bosch specialist workshop to enable the option if possible. However, this is only feasible if your e-bike also has the necessary and stable attachments. For this, it is best to directly contact the manufacturer of your e-bike.

IS YOUR E-BIKE COMPATIBLE WITH THE BOSCH POWERMORE 250 WH?

There are several ways to find out if your e-bike is compatible with the Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh Range Extender. You can check whether your Bosch e-bike is compatible via the eBike Flow app connected to your e-bike. To do this, go to Settings -> My eBike -> Components. If the PowerMore additional battery is listed here, your e-bike is compatible. If necessary, it may be necessary to update your e-bike and the Flow app to the latest version. If the PowerMore 250 is not listed, it is best to contact your local specialist dealer or the manufacturer of your e-bike directly.

Our recommendation: Before ordering, enquire with the manufacturer of your electric bike to confirm whether your model is compatible with the PowerMore 250 Wh Range Extender.

On the water bottle mounts
I spoke to a chap on the Bosch stand at Ard Rock and he said normal water bottle mounts weren’t sturdy enough to hold the PowerMore. Had to be designed for it apparently. I suspect there’s a degree of arse covering involved there, but worth bearing in mind.

I am riding with some guys on non smart system bosch who have fitted after market 250 wh bottle cage batteries. They seem to be working very well. No issues thus far but it's only been a couple of months so far. They ride pretty hard but I will give it a bit more time before I invest
