The owner of my LBS has just gotten off of the phone to the Australian supplier of Canes Creek, who has bluntly said that they will not be honouring any warranty on any Canes Creek coil shocks on any Chinese bikes with a Y mount.
I blew the guts out of my Rock Shox Monarch, which lead to me needing to buy a new shock. The guys at Sram Australia have also said that will not warranty any Vivid RC2 Coil Shocks.
The reason is they both reckon that the lateral play in the Chinese frames with an opposing Y mount will eventually ruin the shock by scoring the shaft.
Is this 2 separate people not knowing what they're talking about? It doesn't quite sit right with me?
I'm after a coil shock. Does anyone have any advice on this?
