Has it been kept in the cold? I think the 3C compound is prone to that in low temps.

for what its worth Ive had one since Aug '24 and put it on my main bike for winter - so it has had two winters of use now and it doesn't show any sign of serious wear like this. I reckon ill get another winter out of it. usually gets stored on a spare bike, so minimal use throughout summer, often just swap wheel sets to avoid using the High Roller.

DD Maxxgripp.

I'd replace it - those lugs are likely to start flying off, sooner rather than later

The MaxxGrip tends to do that unfortunately. Mine and a friend of mine‘s Highroller 3 (front and rear) do look the absolute same after having them on the whole winter. They just wear out so fast because they are so soft.
I wouldn’t be concerned but the damping and grip is not the same as when they are new.
But I would definitely put new ones on!

First pic rear, second front…400km on them

I would change them
At the end of the day its the only thing between you and the ground .

On my frequently ridden bikes, I go through tires once or twice a season. Usually after being ridden through winter (subfreezing), is when I notice heavy cracking like yours. Usually at that point, the tires are nearer the end of the their life anyway. Finish out the winter and put on new tires for spring.

I'd run them, but I'd be more concerned with their performance (loss in grip) than the surface cracking. There's threads inside forming the casing holding the tire together. The cracks would have to get much worse or start seeing random sealant weeping for me to be concerned.

How old are these tires?

*edit* should add on the eMTB, more like replace tires 2-3x a year.

How have you got a MAXX Grip to last that long i run maxx grip front and rear on my normal enduro bike 4-6 weeks at most for a shorty or High roller

I've had that with Maxxis Minions multiple times. I've kept riding and only had one case the lugs started to break off, I've never had it cause a puncture/deflation in itself. I do eventually replace them, usually for other wear/grip issues. I'd replace if bits start breaking off...

I pulled out a fresh HR3 from the shed to fit up and noticed this.....

Few weeks ago took off our HR3's and stashed them ready for when it gets muddy again in late Autumn. Better check ours today, good call (y)

Edit 10.50am: just checked ours (folded for storage) and they look OK, perhaps there was a bad batch ...
