2022 gen 3 Levo Expert. Any experience with this TCU message? Nothing was swapped. No errors in the Specialized app either. Everything was normal. It even showed system healthy.
A few days ago while riding I felt the power cutting out sporadically and it got worse over the next few miles, than the message. Speed and power was reduced, but the power was still herky-jerky. Fortunately the ride back to the car wasn’t very far.
I brought it to the shop and the tech found a pebble lodged in a keyway in the battery port. He removed it and problem solved! We figured it kept the plug from fully seating, causing an intermittent connection. Yesterday I charged it, went for a ride, and all was good. Fixed!
Unfortunately not fixed. I charged it this morning, turned it on, and the error message was back, so I decided to take a deep dive myself. Cleaned the battery port and motor plug with contact cleaner. Error still there. Pulled the crank and motor cover to check the wires and that the plugs were seated. Looked good. Moved wires while power cycling. No change. Then at one point it powered up correctly, though I stopped faffing around by then. I plugged/unplugged/charged/power cycled. No error. Buttoned everything up and rode around the neighborhood. All good.
I think there’s still a ghost in the machinery and it’s not done messing around. Suggestions?
EDIT:
An hour after posting I turned the bike on and it was normal. After poking around online for a few minutes “please update before riding” suddenly appeared, but not the component swap message. I fired up the app but bike not found. Powered off the bike then back on and it was normal, connected the app too. Weird. I wonder if it’s a bad TCU?
