I am expecting a Giant EMTB this october. I want a chain now to be ready when it needs to be replaced. How many links should i buy? I see 126, 122, some are less... It is 10S 36 front, 11-46 rear, chain stay 475, medium frame.

Just buy a chain when it needs replacing? After all prices are at an all time high, they might have come down by then, and you can count the links ?

I just bought 2 tires 29x2.6 to replace the the 2.4 and now that model is out of stock so i plan ahead the empty shelve is real in Canada and other places. I do not believe prices will go down but time will tell.

l admit l have a spare chain!

Find out what chain is fitted and order the same as a spare, you can measure it against the old one and shorten it as required. You do have a chain tool? lf not then now's the time to buy one of those as well. Note, there might be one on your multi tool....

The chain should last 1,000 miles depending on how well you look after it and the type of riding that you do.
Mine was at the wear limit (0.5 on the chain checker) after 750 miles.
You do have a chain checker? lf not, best add that to your order.
Don't forget to tell your other half, best not to wait until it appears on the bank statement ?
