Carbon rail with a bike trailer???

Hi all, I’m just wondering if anyone has used a trailer (for children not cargo) on their carbon rail? I’ve looked at different options and like the look of the Kolofogo Tahoe it mounts to the seat post, I can’t find any info online saying I can’t tow a trailer using the dropper post on a carbon frame? Other than that I am looking at trailangel plus bike trailer, again another seat post mounted tow along device (I’m intending to mount it to the lower outer shaft of the dropper not the moving part of the dropper post). Any thoughts or advice would be great. I’ve read a lot of the generic posts on here about towing trailers and wanted some specific rail owners opinions if anyone has used any type of trailer before.

If you end up fastening to the dropper post body, beware of overtightening. It squeezes the body and compresses the internals. This accelerates wear and/or failure. Use carbon paste.

I have been running a Trayecto for the last 7 months. There's no advice against running the trailer with carbon frames. The lower the bracket is mounted, the more balanced the trailer feels and with that, when the clamp is low on the seat post, there is very little leverage. Carbon is stronger than that nowadays

As for dropper posts, the clamp slides onto the post from the bottom (you have to disconnect your dropper post cable for this) and then clamps firmly.But the alloy clamp is around a nylon bush/clamping area. It's impossible to tighten excessively enough to affect the dropper post action. Nothing like the force emitted by a seat clamp.

I've used mine mostly around the black mountains and it's taken some big knocks and eats the harsh water bars for breakfast. It's been just brilliant for us as a family.

Perfect! Thank you for your advice. Can I ask how big the clamp is that goes round the seat post? I can’t find measurements for it anywhere! I would like to have one on both bikes but don’t know if it’s going to fit on my L frame, Without the dropper being raised way to much. ?

The clamp itself is 3cm deep, but the shim that you bolt on brings it to a total 5cm height.

Wow! That’s very slim, some of the other seat post mounted clamps look about 8-12cm so was worried I would be way to high Up. thanks for the info! ?

That’s exactly where I am looking at getting it from! Got any photos of it on the bike? Was it already used when you hired it or did they give you a new one?

It was a brand new one- they have only just launched and so they said all there stock was new this year. I will send you across some pics next time I am out!
