I’m nearing the end of my 4 year motor warranty on my 2020 Levo Carbon Expert and have noticed that there is a little grinding when I turn the cranks backwards. It turns Freely but there is just a hint of resistance. I understand that Specialised won’t replace the motor unless it has stopped working? So it got me thinking about options when warranty runs out. I‘ve just watched the E bike motor centre video regarding overhauling the Brose motor and this would obviously be an option but their turnaround time is 10 -12 working days (not including post and return post). My question is, is there anywhere that sells reconditioned motors which can be fit by the user, without a visit to Specialised for software reset etc?

Are the motors plug and play, Or is that limited to the original motor that came with the bike? If I take the current motor off the bike and then reconnect, do I need special equipment /software?

Do Specialised offer discounts for replacement motors outside warranty period?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If it’s still under warranty and you’re noticing some grinding I would contact them now. They might help you out. Beyond that I’m not sure.
