My employer has just increased our C2W scheme limit to £5k. Decided it’s finally time to pull the trigger on an EMTB and I have some great local shops to choose from. To keep costs down I’m not looking to max out the limit and want to buy local for when I have any motor/battery issues. Tempted with the base Turbo Levo Gen 3 at £3800 from a local Turbo store. Total cost with the scheme would be around £2700. I know the Gen 4 is about to be released but I suspect even the base model might be over the £5k limit. Just wanted some feedback on the bike and any other thoughts you guys might have. Thanks in advance.

Gen3 is a great bike, they ride well, motor feels very natural and they are a lot of fun. It’s definitely not a bad choice at all.

What sort of trails are you looking to ride? How fit/fat are you?

My personal preference is for lighter e-bikes, they tend to be more fun and closer to a regular mtb, consider if a Levo SL would work for you.

I’ve got decent fitness and some good local hills to session. Can do about 4 maybe 5 of the local downhill trails before my legs start to give up. Other MTB is a Stanton Sherpa hardtail, also got a gravel bike (also used as a summer road bike). Always said I’d get myself a top notch Ebike as a retirement gift to myself when I finish at my current job in Oct 2028 and I still plan on doing that. The recent increase in scheme limit just got me thinking about taking advantage of it while I’m able to and the current discount on the Gen 3 Levo’s.

id suggest tell them you want a comp for the base model price, buyers market at the moment
Have already been in for a little chat and there’s no negotiation room other than the discount they’re already doing as I’m using the cycle to work scheme to potentially purchase a bike. As a cash buyer I’d be in a much stronger position.

You do lose a lot of negotiation power with the scheme but there is still movement, maybe they sell you some accessories at a discount like maybe a Garmin or an AXS upgrade, Just bought my wife the S Works and the AXS system is incredible, so much so that I am upgrading my old 2020 to it as it's so good.

The scheme charge bike shops something like 10% to accept it, which eats a good chunk of their margin on a discounted bike.

My LBS said they weren’t making anything at all on my latest bike, but the upgrades and wrap made it worth their while.

Thanks for the advice folks.. After much deliberation I’ve done what I usually do and order something different. There was a 2022 Orbea Rise M20 reduced to £3500 on the scheme website and with the C2W discount I’ll pay £2500. I liked the look of it more than a Levo and I think the battery size and weight of the bike will suit me and my local trails more than a full fat EMTB. (Fingers crossed anyway).

Sounds like you got a deal on the Rise. There are deals on this as well at Tredz in the uk under your scheme limit but more expensive than the rise.

GCI is less. Also end of scheme purchase fee is £1.
