I was doing a bearing service on my Gen 3 Levo and when i dropped the motor, i noticed one of the mounts was broken and the second one was close. It's pretty surprising for me to see this since i can't imagine it's from bashing my motor on a log due to the direction the mounts are breaking. I found at least one other thread on this forum where a user had the same thing happen. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm a second hand owner so i dont get a warranty and my local shop wasn't able to get any discount on a new motor so a replacement would be $1200. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hi and yes ….luckily I was 2 or 3 months out of warranty and they honored it …..which I was pretty pleased about.my lbs told me it’s a known fault and I hadn’t any evidence of bashing the motor at that time (atl lease not from directly underneath as the plastic battery cover was intact and not shattered. Can’t say the same about pedal strikes though as there are always aplenty)

Happened to my kenevo, it was the top bolt and was told it was ok to ride so did for over a year with no issues .
I sent the motor for a service at the ebike service centre and they put on a new casing for £40

Gen 2 and 3 have spacers and brackets between the frame and the motor that must allow for too much flexing.
The gen 4 is less complex and hopefully stronger as the motor mounts directly to the frame.

My last motor that was being warrantied for excessive noise had one of the motor mounts broken just like yours. My lbs said it was the first they had seen and they blamed on my jumping a lot, but idk. I had mine welded back on at a local machine shop and I’m going to send it to Ebike motor repair to be rebuilt.
