Ok, with less than 100 miles on my new Trek Rail Gen 3 and my DB8 brakes need to be bled. I’ve done a couple of big down hill runs and per the Flow app hitting just under 30mph in some areas. I did notice on these big runs that I would experience brake fade, missing my braking points and overshooting my corners. I’m heavy on my front brakes and the pull on my lever is close to my grip. I'm sure if nothing proactive is done, the issue will repeat its self. Could I get your input on next steps after I’ve had my Trek shop bleed the brakes; Bigger rotor, more aggressive pads or bite the bullet and upgrade the brakes, hate to do the latter on a new bike but I doubt Trek will upgrade for free or offer a discount. Thanks in advance.

My Mondraker Crafty R came specced with Sram db8's, I swapped the levers for Shimano M6100 and changed rotors to Galfer wave, the strongest brakes I've ever had.

Thanks, which pads do you run?
I use uberbike e-matrix

As other mentioned, yes you can go bigger rotor, but I do not think this is going to be a huge improvement versus going 2 pistons brake, so careful and be wise when spending your money, especially if you go with another brand, the rotors won't match at all.
I would go A4 without any hesitation, with them you even do not need big rotors :D

Why will rotors not match?

I have db8,s on my cube,2 years old,not bled them,go the chepest option first, change the pads for better quality ones.
total bleed solutions on e bay or the web can help you, just message them, what they dont know about brakes aint worth knowing.
might even be the rotors holding the heat,i have maguras on mine.two piece rotors, better for heat dissipation.

Thanks! Will look up the bleed kit.

I was implying that if he upgrade to some sram rotor for later on switching to other brake, like the A4, this just just won't do the trick, some great brake require thicker rotor.
Which "great brakes require thicker [than sram] rotors" and why do they "require thicker rotors"?

We have 2022 alloy Trek Rails with Shimano 4 piston calipers (MT420/M6120), Shimano levers, Swissstop Catalyst Pro 220mm rotors (2 piece rotors). No issues with them, only ever do top bleeds when change pads (Shimano D03S pads). Tried Sram 220m Hs2 rotors with several different pads but always noisy as hell. Now lost somewhere in the garage.
