With the undeniable onslaught of Avinox drive option's killing the light weight lower power market & now the TQ60 with the 580w option is there any rumors in the wind of Bosch offering a bigger batter for the SX units?

Whilst in all honesty I more regret than rave my decision to by a SX driven bike with the 60NM up grade & eMTB+ option its honestly a good motor, the battery however is woefully undersized for the drives potential.

I do use the Powermore extender but it SO HEAVY it make the package a Joke & rubs salt in the "Should have brought a CX" wound.

To unless Bosch address this then seems the SX is dead in the water, 600w would make a great package,,, Come on Bosch - its time to party,,,,,,

Love my Bosch sx. Can't say I notice with the power more on. It's only about 1kg in weight. Does depend where it attaches on your bike. I have a Whyte elyte and it attaches very low in the frame so you really don't notice it.

I too love the SX system. If Bosch made a larger battery for it you'd have more weight higher up the down tube, the range extender helps to negate this by keeping the extra weight a bit lower down, and adds flexibility. I've only used the extender a couple of times so far and don't really notice it when riding. Most of my rides are around only a couple of hours long and the 400wh seems good for that for me.

I went for a bike that fitted my needs, rather than what latest high numbers motor and battery it had.

I've see a guy on the italian forums saying he found a way to put a 600wh in his Dune but in all honesty, the 400wh battery for this motor is seriously small nowdays.

It really isn't. It's perfect for the motor. I'm 100kg and have done 30 miles and 5400fr climbing on the battery. Add the extender and that's a massive day. It's not a motor or bike for people that won't turbo. It's one for gentle assistance and maximum lightness and handling

The SX motor is a smart system motor and can be combined with any of the smart system batteries. Bosch offers an abundance of those ranging from 400 Wh to 800 Wh.

What you need to look for is a bike manufacturer and not Bosch, making a model with a frame that can accommodate the SX motor and larger batteries than the CompactTube 400 model. A good candidate would be the PowerTube 600 as the watts to weight ratio is even betten than that of the CompactTube 400.

I asked Bosch about the other power tube options and they told me the 400 is the only one that is compatible with the sx drive, they built it specifically for that motor.

Err think you need to check your scales,,

The 250W power more is 1.45kgs, as I said, your hitting full power 6-7-800w (avinox) bike weights with that on.

According to AI the 400w compact SX battery weighs 2kg, the 600w power tube weighs 3kgs, 200w more for 1kg I'd say 8/10 Sx owners would opt for the extra 1kg every day of the week.

I've an e-gravel bike with SX for almost two years. Most of the time 400wh are enough but there are days when I decide to go on more challenging rides and I get anxious about the battery life. I've thought several times about getting the "battery more" extender, but the idea of having this bulky external battery doesn't convince me.
Amflow has changed the world, and lite e-MTBs no longer make sense.
I think an integrated 500 or 600 Wh battery could also give the SX motor a boost; it's right that Bosch thinks about it seriously.

The battery extender is exactly for those odd days when you want a bit more range.

It’s barely bigger than a water bottle, and I don’t think anybody else cares what it looks like? Maybe it looks worse on a gravel bike though.

I’m not sure Amflow has changed my world, my SL e-mtb is still 3-4kgs lighter than one, and I honestly don’t need (or want) more power or a bigger battery.

If I did, I would buy something with more power and a bigger battery, which is probably what people who want a bigger battery or more powerful SX motor should do, as you can bet nothing will be backwards compatible anyway.
