Hello,

I have some creaking/clicking noises on my full-suspension bike with a Bosch Gen 4 motor.

The noise may occur when:

  • Applying moderate to heavy pedal pressure.
  • The frame is subjected to some lateral twisting load.
  • Mounting the bike and sitting down on the saddle, causing the suspension to compress.
My question is whether the noise is related to the frame and suspension pivot bearings, or if it is motor/crank related.

What would be the easiest way to troubleshoot and narrow down the possible causes?

The bike is a 5-year-old e-bike:

Scott Genius eRide 920 (2020 model)

Kind regards

Could be anything however, you can identify by a process of elimination. For example, remove the chain & ride the bike free wheel. That will tell you if it is the motor, cranks, pedals or chainring. Swap the real wheel if possible, that will tell you if it's in the free hub or cassette. Ride standing up, that will tell you if it's in the seatpost. Undo the rear shock at one bolt & cycle the rear triangle, that will pinpoint the bearings and so on.

The main culprits will be bearings, especially headset & freehub, seatpost & motor.
