on my stereo hybrid 160 HPC SL 2020 Im looking to replace the front chainring along with basically my whole drivetrain as its worn out at around 1000 miles of off road abuse, Id like to go up to a 38 tooth front sprocket but some are listed as "boost" can someone clarify whether my bike needs boost or normal offset chainrings?.
I currently have the direct mount one piece steel ones from SRAM Xsync but Id prefer to swap it for a spider setup ideally.
also I think my rear cassette is a SRAM PG 1230 11-50 tooth 12 speed, is there anything better to replace it with for similar money.

You will need boost as you have a boost rear wheel. Sunrace 12 speed cassettes will fit your current free hub and are well priced but I would recommend a shimano 12 speed cassette but that would involve you swapping your free hub to a microspline. Shimano 12 speed cassettes work quite happily with SRAM 12 speed mechs etc.
