It's a rural property so either the owner was followed or they're trackable back home on Komoot or Strava IMO 🤔☹️

I'm forever telling people to switch on privacy in Strava, it hides your start & endpoints from other users. One of our crew had £13k of bikes nicked from his house & we're certain they followed his Strava to the front door since only the bikes were taken & no one would otherwise have known they were there.

Also, watch out for anyone following you home after a ride, although putting an AirTag on your bike can also assist the undesirables too.

Spotted this today in my news feed. Three EMTB stolen. Make sure your garage or shed is secure.

It doesn't matter how secure your shed or garage is, if you don't use ground anchors to secure your bikes inside your shed or garage then a determined thief will simply ride off with them, I was burgled in June 2024 and if it wasn't for the use of my Hiplok AX1000 ground anchor and DX1000 locks then they would have left with 2 Yeti's and a Pivot, thankfully they got sweet F A.

Two strangers (youngish lads) casually said hi to my neighbour's son in the alley at the back of her house when he visited, seemingly just being friendly. He left his bike unattended in her yard, went in for a drink and got distracted talking to her, and when he went out to put the bike in the shed just a few minutes later it was already gone.

Brazen opportunists on the prowl and while not as organised as the Strava thieves, give them an opportunity and they will still take advantage. I now never leave my gate unlocked, and it helps that I have a large American Bulldog who will bite if necessary, but even then I still wouldn't leave the bike unattended in the yard.

Unfortunately battery grinders exist now.

FFS. It’s awful.

Can anyone (UK/EU) recommend a plug in alarm and motion sensor system?

My workshop is underneath our house so a relatively simple alarm system who wake me up in seconds.

Thanks

I have Knog Scouts on all of my bikes, and very rarely leave them unattended even then. I have nice thick Kryponite chains and locks for when I do have to carry them on the car and leave them on the rack and use more than one chain. I do not use Strava at all either. Lastly I have the ability to leave store all of my bikes inside my house.
