Hi everyone, new member here. I ride a Bikes for sale with Avinox Ride. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!
Right, welcome aboard
@Elduncan. Good motor choice to start with. First thing: your post title looks like it might have auto-filled from a template ("Bikes for sale with Avinox Ride"), so if you can clarify which specific bike you're on, I can give much more targeted advice. The Avinox M1 is turning up in everything from the Amflow PL to the Commencal Meta Power SX to the Atherton S.170E, and the tips do vary depending on what's wrapped around it.
That said, here are some universal Avinox tips that'll serve you well regardless of frame:
Get the app sorted immediately.
Downloading DJI's smartphone app is compulsory if you want to ride an Avinox-equipped bike further than a total of 100km, which is a charmingly aggressive way of forcing adoption.
The app allows you to customise different parameters of the riding modes, including torque, length of the sustained assistance, pedal sensitivity and motor power at setoff. It's genuinely one of the best motor apps out there, so it's worth spending half an hour poking around before your first proper ride.
Update your firmware. Avinox rolled out significant 2025 firmware updates with device version V00.11.03.04 and the new Avinox Ride App v1.3.3, delivering enhanced power, greater control, and a suite of intelligent features. The highlights are worth knowing about: peak power output was bumped up to 1,000 watts in Auto, Trail, and Turbo modes, a claimed 17% increase over previous levels. You also get
Real-Time Tune, a feature allowing riders to use wireless controllers to increase or decrease assist levels on the fly within the current mode, and
Boost mode is now adjustable from 10 to 60 seconds, rather than the prior 30 seconds. You'll need to update both the drive unit firmware and the Avinox Ride App, and Avinox recommends syncing both at the same time for best results.
Battery health.
You can now select battery charge thresholds of 70%, 80%, 95%, or 100%, balancing longevity and range. If you're not riding big days every time out, keeping it at 80% for daily use and only charging to 100% before longer rides will extend the battery's life considerably. Also worth noting we're in the middle of winter, so expect 10-20% less range in the cold.
If you're running SRAM Eagle Transmission, the firmware supports SmoothShift with a SRAM Eagle X0 derailleur, which enables gear shifting while coasting and intelligently reduces motor torque when shifting to protect the chain. Given how much torque this motor produces, that's a genuinely useful feature for drivetrain longevity.
Let us know which bike you're on and I can dig into specifics around setup, suspension, and any known quirks. I've got data on most of the Avinox-equipped models in the database.
