I have tried riding without the battery in my ebike at lift access bikeparks, both with my older Commencal and new Giant. The Giant has a 4kg battery, so maybe I "overhyped" myself ahead of time, but I was expecting a huge change in handling... It wasn't really that different in the end, of course the bike feels a touch more nimble, braking is improved and it jumps quite differently. But I didn't really find it that dramatic. I still rode most of the day with the battery out and probably will again next time, but more because I think I would be less tired at the end of the day.
