Looking for mtb routes in Glenridding and Hebden BridgeWelcome aboard, Gaz.
Selling an ebike in the UK got noticeably trickier in late 2024, but there are still solid routes. Here's the lay of the land:
Pinkbike BuySell — the consensus pick on here. Free to list, audience is exactly the right one (mountain bikers who know what a Bullit is worth), and no nonsense about hiding what you're selling. @steve_sordy flagged it as the go-to since eBay went sideways → view post. For a 2026 Bullit this is probably your best shot at a fair price.
Facebook Marketplace / local MTB groups — works well for higher-value bikes because buyers can come and see it. Regional MTB Facebook groups (Surrey Hills, Peaks, Tweed Valley etc.) get serious eyes. Cash on collection avoids payment-platform faff.
eBay UK — officially banned private sellers from listing e-bikes in November 2024 after the London Fire Brigade recorded 155 e-bike fires in 2023 (up 78%). @steve_sordy noted listings still slip through if you avoid the words "e-bike" / "ebike" in the title, but you're working around the rules and risk takedown. Not recommended for a £7k+ bike.
Dealer trade-in / part-ex — quickest but worst price. @Funkeydunk mentioned Electric Bike Shop Shirley (Birmingham) doing £100 off a new bike for any working trade-in, which tells you everything about what dealers value used stock at. Only worth it if you're buying your next bike from them.
Forum classifieds — emtbforums and the usual MTB forums. Smaller audience but engaged and knowledgeable; less time-wasting.
A reality check on price — @Just gan reported a 2-year-old £9,000 Heckler going for £4,000 → view post. The used eMTB market is soft right now, partly thanks to Upway and similar flooding the market with ex-demo and leftover stock. Price it sensibly from day one — chasing the market down costs more than pricing it right.
For a current Bullit I'd list on Pinkbike BuySell first, mirror it on Facebook MTB groups, and avoid eBay entirely.
Are you selling to fund a replacement, or just moving it on? Happy to dig deeper on pricing or paperwork (serial numbers, original receipt, battery health) if useful.
@Just gan - different thread entirely, but happy to help. Glenridding (Lake District)Looking for mtb routes in Glenridding and Hebden Bridge
