I’m tryig to figure out if the Comp level levo is worth the $1000 over the base. It looks like the big difference is dropper post and fork. I could likely spec exactly what I want for about the same money. I’m really eyeing a MRP Ribbon Coil.

Either way I go I will likely be getting a coil rear shock. At 115kg I’m just too big for air shocks to work well.

I have some nice vintage hope m6 ti brakes I can swap if the level T brakes aren’t up to the task.

Rough estimate
Ribbon coil fork $850-950
Dropper post $200-275

I know it’s more that $1000 but cheaper than a fork after getting a comp.

I got the base to build up, like you, couldn't see the £1000 extra in spec for the comp.

I also found the level t brakes nowhere near as bad as I thought they would be, wouldn't do alpine runs with them, but trail centre riding just give. I sold the forks for £275. And you can get a 170mm dropper for £150. So that leaves £1125 for forks. Lyrik are £800, so £325 to buy goodies.

Now if it was £1000 up to a carbon model I'd of done that. 1kg for £2000 was not worth it.

Ive done the same thing base model me and my wife

You did forgot some minor difrences between
Base And comp

Brakes
Sadel
Derailler
Shifters

About a 475€ diffrence extra in total

I went base...but I am the type to just replace everything anyways. Always feels nice with your own choosing. I knew the base wasn't spec'd for me, but had all intention of replacing most of the stuff. Make it yours...

Maybe I should add that I could care less about bling and want function first. My years in the bike biz taught me that mid-range components are often as if not more durable than top spec. I’m big and riding a heavy e-bike. Counting grams is foolish waste of money. Quality suspension that is up to the task is worth every penny.

And thats torally fine too!! Just ride...all personal pref right. Only diff im say is weight. All groups these days shift spot on.

I've found it ok. Can't really tell any flex. I'm upgrading soon and will be able to compare. I think we're led to believe that bigger and more expensive is better and three other stuff will fail. I'm finding that's not the case so far.

Depends how you ride...for the majority, its totally fine Im sure (even if you bomb down). I think that new Sektor on there was ok...not the greatest dampening, but compared to technology years ago, it would be equivelant to a top class fork way back when. So...

All preference...for me...needed something more buff and plush.

In which shop did you buy it? You are from Belgium no?

Yes i am from .s-bikes in geraardsbergen
Yeah the base model cost 4499€ Everywear

With most decent fork brands these days anything above mid level will take the abuse, what you are getting from the top end forks/shocks is quality of dampening and ride, and more adjustability to nail the set up.

a 32mm stanchion fork on quite a heavy bike
