Those welds :p
I'm a rank amateur with aluminum, and could weld better than that by my third day with a tig.
Reminds me of a vid I saw by Dan Stanton. I think he said they stopped welding their frames in the UK because they couldn't match the quality of the welding by their Taiwanese partners. IMO people put far too much stock in the 'Made in [My Country]' label. There's nothing wrong with paying someone in Asia to do a better job, or the same job for less money. It's basically a win-win: we get better/cheaper bikes, and they get income that they typically need more than we do.

I assumed those were welded in the UK. Typical Taiwanese aluminum welding is a lot better than that.
Those look like they're being welded in someone's dirty garden shed by candlelight.

What do you mean by 'those'? The Orange frames? Dan Stanton is head of Stanton Bikes, so I was referring to Stanton frames, not Orange. Stanton used to have the option of frames made in UK vs made in Taiwan, and obviously the UK-welded ones were more expensive, but apparently it was hard to get the quality as high as the Taiwanese ones.

I was referring to orange. Never heard of Dan, I presumed he was associated with orange, hence your reference to him.
