BTT some thoughts in detail. I have no Avinox, do compare to experience with Bosch and follow the development with great interest for my future emtb.

1 - 1000W Mode
For myself I do not see any need for the latest increase in power.

2 - SmoothShift – Wireless Shifting Without Pedalling
As many others I drop power on pedal while shifting and think this is a good addition especially for eMTB.

3 - Control Centre: On the Fly Mode Tuning
„Previously you needed the app to tweak motor support levels. Now, you can do it straight from the top tube display. And it’s actually pretty slick.“
Absolutely!

4 - QuickStart:
„This makes the motor engage faster. Before, it needed a bit more crank rotation before kicking in. Now, it reacts almost instantly to pressure — brilliant for steep techy climbs where timing matters.“
That is what Bosch has but is sometimes difficult to control. Nevertheless good to have.

4 - Chain Protection
„When this is enabled, the motor briefly dips power the moment you shift — especially noticeable in Turbo mode.“
I believe it will help to reduce tear and wear of the drive train but a high output components should still suffer a lot.

5 - Real-Time Assistance Tuning
„Using the right-hand controller, you can now fine-tune the assist level in small increments on the fly. No need to switch entire modes — just nudge the support up or down as you go. Say you’re in Trail mode and want a bit more support on a climb, but not full Turbo — just hold the up button. Want to conserve battery at the end of a ride? Tap it down…..“
I like that option. Great!

6 - Smart Charging + Storage Mode
Not sure but no real experience. The 2014 Bosch 400wh battery pack in my trekker is still doing fine but my dad used it a couple of years and took care on winter storage and not being fully charged. For the trekking ebike with 800wh I was told to store inside not fully loaded and plug it in once a month for 5 minutes.
But is there a big advantage if a 800USD battery pack dies after 6 -8 years at 60% capacity? On motobikes (certainly different batteries) I came to the result it is no harm to not keep it conmected to a charger (battery jogging) but charge it after 2-3 months of storage / not in use.

Avinox have no track of warranty and support at shops.
I guess Bosch will update software first.
Do they go wrong?
It would be interesting if everyone who has had a failed Avinox motor, commented here to say so.

I am not aware of a single failure of the Motor. My bike has been completely fault free for 1500 miles, other than a new chain at 300 when it broke.

No, I get that.
I’m also 2200 trouble free miles; my point was that there is very little feedback so nearly 12 months and no proof of reliability - so it would be good if those Avinox owners who have had failures, could reply and say what went wrong/happened and even maybe how it was dealt with.

That is, if any have gone wrong. 😑

I think the fact we have not heard of any speaks for itself....

There have been some, one was mentioned in this post with a link to the YouTube video. He was sorted really quickly though, so credit to Amflow.

All motors can fail, it’s the nature of mechanical devices. I’ve no idea how many Avinox motors are out there though, so failure rates versus other brands will be difficult to verify.

From the small sample on this forum though, seems promising?

The fast charging is still one of the best features of the avinox imo. Wondering if its possible for bosch to implement it trough a software update or that its not possible to do so. Even if it would be for only the first 50% that would be a massive upgrade.

The 36v 4a charger is a limitation outside of software/BMS.

"Smoothshift" is good, it turns the chainring independently of the pedals. I find it really helpful when you have to stop (eg a gate) in smallest cog, it will spin up and change multiple gears ready to set-off again (maybe uphill) even from stationary as long as it detects the rear wheel turning. From stationary, just lift rear of bike and pedal half a turn - smoothshift will spin up the cassette as many gears as you like. OR approaching said gate, braking, you can quickly change gearing before you come to a complete stop whilst remaining standing on the pedals.
NOTE: Smoothshift requires AXS derailleur and to be wired to the motor, it does not use the the wireless link.
 
From what i hear from one that would know, DJI have a new MK2 Motor coming next year with a bigger screen and 130nms, this will go on the new Alloy bike, also that DJ have done a deal with another leading Brand for them to have use of this new Motor and Batt on there bikes.

Yeah, this new motor info is interesting. From the info I've seen on here, the new M2 motor is 300g heavier than the current M1 motor, will have more torque, and is initially destined for a lower price aluminum framed Amflow bike, which may drop as soon as January 26', and may be launched more broadly a few months later.

The first 2 elements of the new motor are kind of "meh" to me, as the Avinox motor is already the most powerful/torquey on the market (some already say it's too powerful), and it's main USP (Unique Selling Proposition) is that it is lighter than other "full power" motors. This M2 motor seems like it boosts something no one is asking for (torque), while trashing a benefit that many people value (weight).

The 3rd element mentioned (a lower-priced Amflow offering), does seem like it could be appealing to many riders, if it is genuinely substantially less expensive without major component downgrades. If the big price drop is not just due to the motor swap and alu frame (which would both preserve or even improve function, at the expense of an extra KG) and instead is accompanied by crap brakes, iffy drivetrain parts, and shoddy suspension, then it isn't really the motor that is driving the cost savings, it's the other stuff, so then what is the real benefit of this heavier motor?

If there are other tangible benefits to the new motor that haven't been discussed yet, like improved durability (although it seems from the user reports that Avinox motors are pretty durable so far) or less noise, then I am all for it. I guess I am just very cautious at this point, because sometimes a cheaper Gen2 product is actually superior to the Gen1 product, due to experience and refinements in both design and manufacturing, and sometimes it is just capitalizing on the brand esteem built by the Gen1 product, while not living up to its performance.

The best part about this new motor is that it’s going to be used by much more established Brands. As good as the Amflow is there is nothing really cutting edge about the frame or geo.

Agreed that the Amflow doesn't break any new ground, and I personally would prefer if it didn't have the combo of a yoke and trunnion-mounted shock. Regarding the new motor, we've heard there will be a new Alu Amflow bike, and 1 other established brand using it. Have you heard that it may get more buy-in from other big brands? Personally, if I was running a big brand, I'd be less likely to spec this new motor than the original Amflow unit, unless they end up proving to have some additional benefits. If all we cared about was torque/power, Bafang has had options that exceed Bosch and Shimano for several years.
 
A heavier lower cost option and maximising durability would be a smart move towards driving sales volume

Yes i have heard from both a Amflow and the Donkey bike store that they have done a deal for the DJI power unit. It’s not just the TQ and power that sets this DJI unit apart, but its weight and more importantly its range of tune options.
 
@Rob Rides EMTB any reason why the real time assistance adjustment feature isn’t working? Tried on my Forbidden CorE (latest update) but get nothing when holding up or down on the right hand controller.

You need to enable it in the settings for the controller. Mine works fine on my Forbidden but I removed the right hand controller anyway as I personally don't see the use in having it and prefer a cleaner cockpit
