Authorities are waking up...

It's a shame. He used to make good videos. It's all just negativity now. I had to unsubscribe. Don't need those negative vibes.
I still make good videos, i actually make truthful videos. If you want to bury your head in the sand, you are perfectly welcome to go watch people that confirm your bias and desire for pure marketing based piffle... LOL... There comes a point when ones knowledge exceeds that of the competition and I have to actually up the stakes and report on the reality... instead of what everyone else does, which is take the cash and repeat the baloney of the marketing people...

Ok, so DJI Avinox system is not classified as an e-bike in CA, but as a motorcycle? How does this affect DJI, shops selling DJI bikes, etc? Seems like they are now in a different legal class than ebike? Is it the 'nominal' motor power loophole? That is how all the non-legal ebikes get sold at retail, the makers always say 'nominal' power is 750 watts, but the motor is capable of like 3000 or 5000 watts. That's like, every other ebike sold in CA. The nominal thing should probably be rescinded. It's either 750 or less, or it's not.

Power means nothing in the big picture. The speed at which assist cuts out matters more than any other factor. That's really the only metric that should be used in classifying eBikes vs eMotos.

Mate. I'm Mountain Biking to relax, enjoy life, and get away from the rat race. If mountain biking for you is producing ranting videos and starting multiple threads that create division in this giving community. Then we really aren't going to agree on much.

Pretty certain that's Alex the Bike Tester. He has generally unpopular opinions regarding Avinox products but you have to recognize that he's one of the few that isn't being sponsored by Avinox. So I think those opinions are very valuable in the marketplace to provide some semblance of balance.

The law is vague on this. Makes you wonder why one of the industrial behemoths with deep pockets & a problem with DJI doesn't test it in court. I can think of a reason or two.
The sad part is manufacturers like Bosch are rumored to be aligning their company with these unknown, unelected, and unaccountable regulators.

I don't know if you recall but Bosch got tangled up in dieselgate some years back even though they had warned regulators and customers, apparently they still received significant fines.
Bosch is a 100-year-old electric motor maker, they could build whatever they wanted. Now they're watching a particular manufacturer that is flaunting all laws and regulations and frankly taking all the market share.
What would you have them do? Lose market share or break the law? There's a third option: they could try to get the current laws enforced.

Is he sponsored by anyone?

It must be very hard to remain impartial unless you are loaded and can buy anything you want to test.

His channel is supported by Leatt. I actually purchased upper body protection that I would not have even been aware of if it wasn't for his channel.
I suspect that Alex is pretty comfortable, and retired in Italy, and does this as a hobby.
But he doesn't buy all of the bikes he rides, he still has access to lots of loaner bikes.

Yes
He has generally unpopular opinions regarding Avinox products
I'm an unsponsored owner of Avinox EMTBs and found his previous videos on the subject, couldn't be further from the truth. Perhaps the unpopularity stems from others feeling the same way ?

But I'm not here to criticize his opinion. I just don't like the division created by all these threads he creates. Most people in this community are so giving. So perhaps another reason for the unpopular views.

That is Alex.

I've actually come to trust his views on motors more and more over time. The video editing is amateurish and could do with some work but the discussion is relevant. In a way, the amateurish editing shows that he is more interested in the content rather than being a YouTuber. I feel he is more of an accidental YouTuber.

With regards to his views on Avinoix I think people get butt hurt when he calls out that the motor is good but it's not mountain biking. It's really a e-moto motor that is great for those that like the motorbike like experience - good for shuttlers. However, he questions it's delivery of power when it comes to finesse on technical trails. I've never ridden one, and i don't have terrain that demands so much power, so I wouldn't know if this is accurate but I see no reason why it wouldn't be. He'd probably make more money if he toed the marketing line.

He also called out the fact that everyone pushing Amflow bikes happened to be "paid" - whether the reviewer admitted this or not - in that Amflow let them keep the bikes - so they got free bikes. There was probably other payment as well. Those are not going to be unbiased reviews.

For me personally, watching his reviews helped me decide to stick with the TQ HRP60 and I ended up buying two TQ bikes - a XC focused Lauf eElja and a (in the process for being upgraded) all-mountain Trek EX 9.7. Alex loved the Trek and I have to say, he was spot on, It's a killer bike.

Thanks @notaninfluencer.

but it's not mountain biking.
Correct. It's Electric Mountain Biking. If you just wanted to go downhill, we'd all be riding MTBs. But we're here on this forum because we ride EMTBs. Hence many find better climbing EMTBs, better.
good for shuttlers.
No it's not. It has more peak power. It's good for climbers. It's limited to 25kph. It will shuttle almost the same as any other EMTB. These people who don't own these bikes, but are experts is farcical.

Interesting how you aren’t considering changing the laws or regulations an option.

It's totally fine that you prefer what you prefer.
Honestly if it wasn't for him pointing out the other side of the coin, it would be really boring around here.
But let's face it, there's a large contingent of riders here that it really affects their view of their own self worth if their motor is not universally considered the Holy Grail.
Like if someone disagrees with your e-bike preferences, a normal person would just be like cool just another opinion and just go on. But not here.
What isn't up for debate however is that Avinox and a couple of others are operating above Class 1 levels and are therefore not legal on mountain bike trails.
It's actually amusing to me that people are comparing a Class 1 to a Class 2+ and acting like it's an epiphany that the Class 2+ is performing better for them. Like no s*** Sherlock.

Alright Trumper, you got me.
You believe in breaking the bicycle laws and I believe in following the laws to protect trail access, or at least getting them changed first.
You certainly are not acting in good faith to legally change the laws. You're position all along has just been: I don't have to follow the laws It's government overreach etc.

I completely agree these motors are a problem in the US, because of your multiple Class regulation. Most of us don't have that problem, because there is only Class 1. And that is all the motor does.

Fix the laws if they're well intentioned but wrong?

OK I'm all done with this MAGA patsy who just can't keep his pecker in his pants. The ignore is a great thing.

This kind of comment usually comes from mandraulic bikers because an biker (on any brand of motor) passed them on a climb, or even worse took their KOM.

For the avoidance of doubt, these are motos

And this is an e-bike:

There is absolutely no comparison; the motos accelerate hard enough to pull the bars out of your hands, no ebike will do that.

Alright Trumper...

OK I'm all done with this MAGA patsy...
You're not insulting me, but I recognize that was the intent. I'll find comfort in the fact that I really avoid personally attacking people here; and I don't profess to know the motivation or cause behind the viewpoints of others. I pretty much just talk about my own perspective.

If you think disliking a all time corrupt prez who couldn't lie straight in bed is woke, then I can only surmise you have been hit on the head by your overpriced coffee machine.
