I need to replace the Butcher tyres on my Levo after ripping the rear one. They've never been the grippiest of tyre and I've had to play with pressures a lot depending on the ride, but I guess they are trying to balance grip vs battery drain.

Tyres, especially e-bike ones, seem to be like at hens teeth at the moment and I can't find anything I'd like to try in stock. I do have a Maxxis Shorty and an Assegai here from pre-emtb days that I never ran. Both are 29x2.5.

Has anyone run these on the Levo and what are your thoughts on which should go front and rear? Are they a battery killer?

Thanks

I run 29X2.5 Assegai's front and rear during summer and 29x2.5 shorty's front and rear during winter

Not noticed any major difference in battery usage (Assegai's are DD casing, Shorty's are EXO casing)

The Assegai's are great for our mixed weather in spring & summer, i mainly ride a mix of mud, chalk, roots & sand and they cope well

Come autumn/winter and they just clog up too much to grip (especailly on the rear with an e bikes power) so i put the Shorty's on till spring arrives

I've just put a 27.5 x 2.5 shorty on the back of mine, mainly because I damaged the bead on my E-wild and it was all I had in the garage. Have a 2.4 wild enduro on the front. I quite like the setup, seems to work ok around various different woods in FOD lately

Shorty is really good if you have mud, but not so good when conditions are more dry, loose or hard
