Anyone with a Shimano STEPS Charger (EC-E8004-2), does the LED go on even if it’s not connected to the bike?

I’m trying to trouble shoot why my Santa Cruz Heckler as the battery isn’t charging. I’m hoping it’s just a bad charger. When I plug my shimano charger in to the outlet the LED does not light up. It does not light up when connected to my bike. I forget if the LED lights up whwn plugged in or if it has to be connected to a bike.

If anyone with an EP8 charger could check this for me I’d appreciate it.

Thank you Dan and Astro for the reply. Now I’m thinking perhaps my charger does work but for some reason it’s just not connecting to the battery.
