Looking into doing this with 57Hours/eAlps this year and interested if anyone has done it and had any feedback. I love that region (we skied/snowboarded there this year) and would really like to check it out on a bike.

I have been in the area hiking in the past, but not by bike, and didn't know about this "haute route". I love multidays rides and will follow this thread.

POSTEDIT: I looked into komoot and it suggests an emtb ride from Chamonix and Zermatt is more like 10 hrs (157 km) rather than 57. I guess you want to make it much more windy. Can you please share your track?

POSTPOSTEDIT: Just found 57Hours is an adventure travel company...

That is also my plan at some point. When I have a bit more time maybe next year.

Any information more than welcome.

Peter

i'm currently planing my own version, staying in huts and charging at mounting restaurants during lunch to top of the battery with the avinox fast charger. but not to zermatt (completely overrated) but even further east up the valais valley

If you have dates and are open to someone joining, let me know. I'm Geneva based.

Any GPX available for the trip ?
It would really help to make a plan.

Thanks

FYI, we're doing this with a guide/tour company, not on our own. Wife is going along and going to do it kind of posh.

i‘m building a track atm, but still in recon phase basing it on videos i found from other ppl doing it. also, there are often several options i have no good intel on which is best. those tour guides mostly base it on easy trails probably, as their typical clientele is most likely 50+ and more into the scenic stuff. i‘m not, i want tech trails

The route I’m doing supposedly is pretty demanding technically. Plus the tour company provides extra batteries mid day so you can get more riding in and longer climbs/descents.

And they carry your extra gear and the beer.

Worth every penny. 🍻

Look at strava heatmap to find the off-piste trails.
