Mines worked itself loose whilst out riding. Need to replace it and was wondering if I can get a non-Amflow one from in the UK for quicker delivery?

My searches so far haven`t turned up anything apart from the (i think Shimano) ones you need the tool with the nubs for, and i`m not even sure they are the right size.

Links and guidance appreciated :)

Pic stolen from another post for reference.

I lost one on the first ride. So I have just taken the other off, and keep it in my tools draw. I then just fit it when I need to remove either crank. Then after putting the crank on. Take it off and store it in the draw again.

I don’t have an Amflow but I believe that the cranks on most of our MTB’s are universal. The crank cover is mainly a dust or debris crank bolt cap.

The only purpose, I can see, is that it prevents debris or dust from accumulating in the main crank bolt area.

When I installed new ERA carbon cranks the original dust cover fine threads were the same. (10mm Allen wrench, 20nnm torque). The crank bolt (8mm Allen wrench) was 50nm torque and needed a crank removal tool to remove. (IMO 50nm is kinda high).

A small swipe of blue loc-tight, around the fine threads, might prevent the dust cap from accidentally falling off.

However, a dust cap may be specific to certain brands of cranks. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I stand corrected.
But the crank removal tool should still be necessary.

its a self extracting bolt thing as well as to stop debris - you leave it in whilst undoing the 8mm hex and it pulls the crank off for you, with no need for a puller. I was hopping it would be a generic part, thinking about it, I could see if one from my other bikes will go on 💡

Sorry, missed your post - yeah had seen that, add in the £5 delivery and that only need one part of it makes for an expensive option in my book
wasted money

quick update - Amflow are sending me one, £8 inc postage. Customer service continues to impress.

Yes, Amflow customer support is brilliant and no automated AI nonsense either (unless it's undetectably good!)

Yep, being delivered today as well and think I only paid them on Monday. Nice turnaround IMO, thought it would be a few weeks from China, obvs have it in UK stock.
