I have the day off and fancy challenging myself. Outline plan is start near Threkeld then up the Old Coach Road then Great Dodd, Raise and onto Helvellyn. Route back via the quite steep back of Whiteside / Brown Crag. FYI - Helvellyn is the one of the only decent peaks that you can legally ride up (bridleway to the summit).
Secondary route the established loop from Glenridding but that involves a drag up either Sticks Pass or Dollywaggon Pike.
I'm average in both skills & fitness but think this is quite doable, but challenging. Although I normally ride solo, this is one of those rides where company would be reassuring. Any insights from anyone who has done would be appreciated.
Approx 35km with 1400m elevation gain & probably aiming to start 1000 (ish) parking at LDNPA offices ///insisting.leaky.poses
Note - this is not a guided ride. This is me going for a ride and if anyone wants to join then great.
