Amflow vs Garmin gpx

I was really surprised and disappointed when after getting my Amflow PL I found out that the e-bike data is not broadcast over ant+ so it can be paired and displayed on a Garmin unit. This means that you can’t view e-bike stats like cadence and power on Garmin connect. The only place you can see it is if you link activity to a Strava account, and you can only manually export the gpx track from Strava activities to Garmin without the e-bike data attached so you can’t use that as a workaround.

Nevermind that I don’t want to be forced to use Strava, but that isn’t really a viable option anyway because of how piss poor the avinox gpx track is compared to my Garmin edge 1040. You can link Garmin activities to upload to Strava but then you have double activities, one from the bike and one from Garmin that don’t combine. The way things are now data recording rides is a hot mess. Avinox needs to prioritize broadcasting that ant+ data which is industry standard on every other ebike I’ve owned. If I’d realized this before purchase I probably wouldn’t have pulled the trigger on my Amflow purchase.

Take a look at the gps traces of a recent ride. First from the bike and second from the Garmin. The Avinox trace is so bad you can’t even tell what trail I was riding and even on the road with open sky it deviates from the actual path.

For me it is a „don‘t buy it“. I‘ll stick to my 2019 Levo S-Works.

Defo won't be buying Avinox before they manage to fix this, this is horrible.

This here says the Avinox system should be ANT+ compatible, also as far as I know it has BT 5.1 connectivity.

Yes, the hardware has the capability but they have not enabled the firmware to broadcast the sensors to bike computers. The only thing the ant+ connects to now is heart rate monitors.

Not sure where you’re seeing that Amflow connects to a 1050. If it were the case I’d consider the upgrade since the 1050 also has the hardware for more accurate traces like the edge mtb unit. Garmin just needs to push an upgrade to activate it on the 1050. The issue with connecting to the bike is on amflow’s side.

Not sure where you’re seeing that Amflow connects to a 1050. If it were the case I’d consider the upgrade since the 1050 also has the hardware for more accurate traces like the edge mtb unit. Garmin just needs to push an upgrade to activate it on the 1050. The issue with connecting to the bike is on amflow’s side.

The Ant+ website which is managed by Garmin. If you go to the Avinox Display, then filter on Bike Computers. It shows all the Bike Computers that are Ant+ compatible with the Avinox Display.

I would definitely go to a store and check it first before buying.

BTW. I discovered my MIO watch, with heartrate monitoring, was compatible through this website. I tried pairing it and it connected, and I no longer need to wear a bloody chest strap. Love it.

What the OP is talking about is that the Avinox system doesn't broadcast ebike sensor data like cadence, speed, battery state, assistance levels etc. in industry terms that is called ANT+ LEV(light electric vehicle) profile data. Only HR data connectivity is enabled which is basically what Bosch is doing also with their closed ecosystem.

Myself when I 1st saw that the Avinox system had ANT+ connectivity I assumed that the LEV profile is enabled. Was surprised when OP wrote it's not working.

If the Avinox GPS is really that bad then for someone loging all their ride data that sucks because you have then two apps that you need to check post ride instead of just one(Garmin if you use one).

This closed ecosystem was a big no go with me for a Bosch system, if Avinox is the same it might not be on the list also.

Maybe someone else using it can chime in an confirm or deny the issue of limited ANT+ Avinox system connectivity.

I have also Garmin watch and Garmin 1040, it is a pain to not see the "electric" parameters in Garmin and passed to strava from there. I have differences whith the "numbers" in the avinox app about distance, elevation. Really, I trust on Garmin.
