Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve had a bike, but things are changing and I may venture back into the hobby.

Im considering the AMFLOW or the Trek Fuel+.

I have owned a Trek Fuel exe, fully fat Rail and also a Spesh Levo. So I’m not new to the scene.

I don’t want a Full fat.

I think the Trek will give me everything I need, I do t know too much about the AMFLOW.

I think the AMFLOW is heavier than the Fuel+, and is maybe considered ‘not the best bike’, but maybe has the best motor, I’ve also seen videos of frame flex on the AMFLOW.

So, educate me…..🙏

Get an Atherton. The Amflow is obsolete to all intents and purposes now.

The trek may be a better trail bike though, and it can be adjusted with various linkages available aftermarket. Also, I think the battery on the trek is removable so, in theory, you could take it out and fly with the bike.

I cannot see why anyone would get an Amflow now, it’s served its purpose as a showcase platform for the Avinox motor but better bikes with that motor are coming on stream.

Id say wait to see what next amflow is, wouldnt bother with current one though it is a decent bike. The motor system is superior to everything. Even if you aint chasing the power the system itself, noise, interface, charging etc is worth it alone. i dont use any of the top power but its a amazing system.

You obviously have not owned an Amflow. The Atherton bike hasn't even been released or tested.

True, but why anyone would buy an Amflow now is crazy. Much better bike brands are now releasing bike with the Avinox motor. I’m pretty sure Atherton will dial the frame/geo/construction far better than Amflow for similar money. Likewise Whyte, and possibly Orbea, of similar budgets.

Amflow really was beta testing for the motor, that’s all. That’s the only plus of that bike according to all the reviews.

Ok, sure 😉. I fully understand why Avinox/Amflow came out. Now many manufacturers are going Avinox system for good reason. Since Amflow is sold out at least in the US, no one can buy one even if they wanted, except through other channels.

Amflow was not shy what bike they were copying which happens to be one of the best designs in the last 5 years and still used on new releases for 2026. I will purchase a beta test bike like Amflow any day 👍

What bike did they copy, genuine question, as I’ve never seen an article where Amflow concede or aren’t shy about saying who they copied? Also, they are readily available still in the UK and now discounted. Maybe it’s a local market thing.

i always thought it looked like a gen 1 rise

I recently bought a Fuel+ and have owned (and loved) a Trek Rail since 2022. I only test rode the Fuel+ to convince myself that it didn't have enough puff for me, but it blew me away and I bought one on the spot! I started a thread to share my experience and get other people's views - you might find some useful info there https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/the-sl-bike-is-dead-long-live-the-sl-bike.44510/

I also test rode an Amflow (amongst other full fatters) and had the shop turn the power settings down cos I don't want a mega power sensation. It was good, but nothing to convince me to replace my old Rail with it. But the Fuel+ is just a much purer riding experience and the bike handles so well and is so so quiet. It's a very personal preference, but if you don't want/need a full fatter then you might really like the Fuel+. Autonomy is equal to my Rail (625Wh battery) and the range extender adds 160Wh for less than a kg.

Good luck with your new bike shopping :)

Obsolete? lol dude the amflow is literally the best bang for your buck trail bike package of any bike out right now and of the bikes set to release in spring. $6500 for an amflow vs $10k + for the others

OP, when people who have never ridden one go out of their way any chance they get to bash something, that’s how you know it’s a good bike. Everything in the trail bike category gets compared to the amflow lately. People get mad at how much attention the amflow gets. Go on your local mtb group and see if anyone can let you try one. That’s the best advice you’ll get. Go try to ride both and make the decision. Is it the best bike ever, no, but it’s untouchable as far as price goes to how good it is.

Have you seen the price of the Atherton? It’s almost the same price and I can tell you with absolute certainty, it’ll be a far better bike. What about the new Fuel+. That’s a better “bike” but if you are just judging on the motor, then priorities differ. I’d rather a fuel+ than an Amflow but we are all different.

Did you ride them? How do you know it’s better?

No, haven’t ridden either except for a car park test of an Amflow. But I’d put my trust in an established bike manufacturer that knows what they are doing rather than having to copy an existing design.

Cmon Dude really? Amflow isn’t going to admit that. Watch Loam Wolf and they said the exact same thing without saying it. It was obvious to me who they copied because I have the Amflow and the bike they modeled it after. 😉

Far better bike 🤔 What exactly does this mean? I can go down a huge list of 2024-2026 models regardless of if they are Analog or EMTB and given equal price points there is nothing “Far Better” than anything else. They are all so close it really just comes down to the level of build you want and brand loyalty. The bikes today are more worthy than 99% of the riders out there.

I was merely asking the other poster who said that Amflow wasn’t shy about who they copied. That suggests they didn’t hide it, but I’ve never seen any such concessions from Amflow. That’s all.

Better build. Better bearings. Better mud clearance for uk riding. Better quality frame construction. The list goes on.

I maintain, I cannot see why anyone in the UK would now buy an Amflow when the Atherton, with a MK2 Avinox motor, is dropping imminently.

You know they started in 2019 and it’s their first emtb.

My original beef with your post is that you think the amflow is obsolete. That’s far from true. Very very good bike that is literally out now and good price. Why would you not get it? You’re praising another bike that you have no clue about. There’s not even the full details out about that bike. Will it be better than amflow, yeah probably to some, but it’s more expensive and again the amflow is far from obsolete. Your just hating for no reason

It’s like a variation on the old pilot joke.

Q. How do you know if somebody rides an Amflow?

A. Don’t worry, they’ll be along to tell you in a minute.

🤭😉

Oh f me my bad. Talking about amflow in an amflow thread.

But it’s ok for guys who have never ridden one to come trash it. Haters man. Unreal.

I’m not hating, never did I say that. Just making the observation that the Amflow fulfilled the need to get the Avinox motor to the market in an unremarkable frame. Are you honestly trying to argue that the Amflow bike would have sold in the same numbers if it came with a Bosch CX system? The motor was the USP for the Amflow, simple as that.

Lighten up, if you think your Amflow is the best e-bike ever, what does it matter what anybody else thinks?

Enjoy it, you’re not going to change anybody’s mind.

Now, any views on the Trek Fuel+?!

It’s the internet man, I’m not mad at any of you. You can have your thoughts and i have mine.

But just to the OP, most of the amflow haters haven’t ridden the bike at all. So keep that in mind. It’s a really great bike. Def try to ride both and form your own opinion if possible!

Loam Wolf said it not so many words when reviewing the Amflow. I think it was in their full power EMTB shootout.

I have a Canyon Spectral OnFly with the Fox 38 and Float X. It also has the SRAM GX drive train. The build is totally sweet and I have put over 2,400 miles on it. When I picked up the Amflow PL Carbon Pro my expectation was I would experience the Avinox system and run with it for a while, then see what happens. I was completely shocked when I rode the Amflow because the Geo and suspension was far beyond what I expected. After 900+ miles I have not changed anything except the rear tire. I think the QC on the entire bike is top notch. I will ding two things. The clear coat is not as good as it should be and the SAPIM E-Light spokes for the rear especially are a little under-engineered with the power this bike has.

Can you tell me please, CBA to watch an entire video to find out something that apparently Amflow aren't shy about declaring.

Do you also reckon Magura brakes are top notch?
