Looking for some recommendations for forum members on alternative brake pads as trying to find shimano N04C pads is close to impossible, what are you using and how would you rate them ?

On metal brake pads you don't need fins as they need to be warm to have the full braking power!
Fins on metal pads is only marketing...

Just go to the D02S: they are waay cheaper and actually easy to find at online stores.

Impossible? There's always a set-or-two of N04Cs on Ebay. I just sold four sets over the last two weeks. (I have no more, in case you're about to ask). You will pay a shortage premium, though. Between me and the rest of the forum... they're not all-that. Which is why I sold them.

MTX Gold Label HD (GL131) pads are currently hitting-the-mark on the front while I use-up the stock D02S pads on the rear. (And yes, I can/have faded the D02Ss in the stock front setup, which is what prompted going to RT-M800s and N04Cs. YMMV, of course.)

I’m using the MTX Gold Pads front at rear. They work exceptionally well.

I've been extremely happy with the Galfer purple ebike pads I've been running in my Shimano XTR 4-piston brakes for the last 8 months.

I have used this site twice now for brake pads.
They do take a few weeks to arrive, but in my experience they are genuine Shimano pads.
They just come as pads though, ie no spring or pin.

MTX Red pads front and rear have been great and super quiet. Yes they are not full metal pads, but I've never had a problem on long descents.

I used Noah and Theo located in the UK. The pads have been great and the price is the best thing.

I bought the MTX gold pads. So far so good. Excellent braking power with little to no fade.
