All parts are "OUT OF STOCK" on www.yt-industries.com due to Insolvency.
And my battery charger for my YT Decoy MK1 just died.
Nice.

then buy a standard shimano one or do they use a proprietary charger?

They don't use a proprietary charger. A Shimano Steps charger uses a different plug and socket. YT uses there 'own' battery pack (not Shimano). The funny thing is the original plug has only 3 pins but the original socket can handle 6 pins (1 not used).
I did find a 'lookalike' charger with matching model number and plug at Flyer - GM Accu but... still searching.

I think I read somewhere a small amount of staff will be retained for customer support. Try sending an email? You might have some luck. You might also find one online second hand. You could also try emailing some of the YT mills if they have direct contact points.

I would imagine that the YT supply chain will have loads of stock that they are keen to get rid of. They probably have outstanding invoices to YT that have not been paid. I'm sure that YT made almost nothing themselves. They designed, marketed and sold the bikes. They probably assembled them for sale, but I doubt that there were any actual YT factories making anything.

out of stock in the US also , thought it would be , so much for all the fanboi's saying nothing changes in the US business as usual , apart from not being able to buy spares it looks like too in alot of instances I would send Marcus an email , he may have a few chargers lying around , maybe in the boot of one of his many motors , but off the comedy note , maybe this could be used, cut the original connector off your faulty charger and connect it to the new one , relatively simple to do Escooter portable battery charger ,

I mean that is the case for almost all of the big brands outside of Giant and Merida.

YT will still own the IP for the designs and components so it's not like the actual manufactures can just start releasing the YT products/components on to the market themselves.

Tried to order a spare chainstay that cracked just after the 5 years on my Tues DH bike. Lost communication with them 2 weeks and nothing came back. Think it's done for YT honestly :(

I understand that, but who is going to stop them? The only one that has the power to do so will be the court appointed liquidator (or whatever the German equivalent is). All the supply companies have to do is to make a deal with the liquidator.

I don't see it happening. It seems the the original founder intendeds to attempt to buy back what he can and relaunch. I hope he succeeds as it would be nice to see YT continue as a brand.

not a chance , with that dude and his ego , if he succeeds fair play but the brand has lost any integrity and good will with a lot of people , in how they have dealt with people thus far , he has promised that all people who have not received their bike they paid for will or will receive a refund , I wonder how that is coming along , my friend who bought a Decoy in the Sale , which never arrived still waiting , at the back of the creditors queue , has not heard a single thing from YT UK , the mill is no more , would you trust this brand with your money now or in the future !

A similar situation exists with GasGas and Liteville bikes both winding down. I was able to get the DVO Onyx 38 fork specific designed for the GasGas eMTB (with a special damper design co-developed with WP) directly from DVO at an insanely good price. I put it on my Levo Gen 3. Might try another one on my enduro bike.

I'm super impressed with how it rides thus far.

That fork will need service and parts. Where you'll get them in 6 months time? What about a year?
From DVO. Worst case scenario he'll have to buy the regular DVO internals if they no longer have the WP stuff.

Fixed it...
I hope he succeeds as it would be nice to see YT continue as a brand that deceives its core asset "the individuals that buy the products"

Was the original founder in charge of the business when it went broke? I hope not.

Compare this with what the owners of Islabikes did. They struggled after the pandemic, but decided to wind up the company cleanly and without debt.

He sold it to a private equity company a few years back but remained in some capacity. I am not sure how much of the mess that occurred is down to him. It could be a lot or not very much. I don't know.

yes who knows but he has been the public side of YT in this current situation and promising stuff he cannot possibly deliver.

Yesterday I bought Lader voor diverse Fietsaccu's . It just arrived. The Higo plugs are identical, plugged it in and the first impression is ok. No fuse blown, no hot wires | charger | battery, no smoke, the charging led turned red and the Shimano display turned on as expected. Since the battery was almost full after some 10 minuts the charging led turned green and the Shimano display turned off. So far so good. The charger is not exactly the same but seems compatible...

What on earth do "private equity" companies know about selling bikes? Look what happened to Chain Reaction Cycles!

Venture Capital companies invest to make profits. They frequently stretch payments to suppliers to the limit of payment terms that suppliers will tolerate. And sometimes beyond resulting in suppliers stopping further supplies.

Yep! A friend of mine works for a telecoms company owned by one of them. I was shocked and disgusted when he told me that the payment terms insisted upon were.........

12 months! :devilish:(n)

That is usury! They are using the balance sheet of their suppliers to fund their own business.
Even if the suppliers increase the prices to cover their overdraft costs, they are still taking a big risk. Cash is the lifeblood of a business. Payment terms longer than ten days should be made illegal. Ten days is perfectly achievable.

I used to work for a company that had standard terms that ranged from 26 to 56 days, depending upon when the invoice was presented (which I thought was stretching it a bit). They took advice from a large (ie global) firm of business consultants. The consultants said that their payment terms were "not best practice" and advised them to implement a fixed 90 days as soon as possible. It depends upon what you mean by "best practice" of course.

I believe that best practice is your suppliers wanting to do business with you. Your suppliers wanting to go the extra mile for you; wanting you to stay in business; wanting to work with you and not merely putting up with you because they had no option. Your suppliers not actively looking for another customer to replace you so that they could do without you.

In a business where you have many potential suppliers of what is a basic commodity, there is a case for always buying from the cheapest, whoever that may be. But there should never be a case for such extended payment terms.

From DVO. The Onyx 38 is still available - the only difference with the WP version is the cone valve, which is unlikely to have issues, and if it does, can easily be swapped for the standard damper. No concerns whatsoever.

I ordered my Decoy in June and got the bike on the 9th of September.

that's a pretty long time , but happy you got it in the end , you are a brave person buying a YT in these times , did you get a good discount

The delivery time seems to be the entire summer riding season. Were you buying it for the next season or was it late in shipping.
I mean the whole insolvency thing happened right in the middle of that. Whatever stock they had got tied up while that was being sorted. I don't think that was their usual delivery time line.
