Hi all, has anyone bought another battery rather than a range extender for bigger rides? Can’t ever see myself using up 2 800wh batteries but thinking a 600wh battery would good plus for shorter days out or evening rides I could use the smaller battery.

Yep, I have 2. Trek sold me another cover as well so it had the bike specific hardware attached.
Personally I like large because I've tested lighter batteries before and the difference in bike handling is minimal (and maybe worse if you have your suspension dialled into the big battery). But mainly batteries lose capacity over time and if you deplete them fully, so a larger battery should have more longevity.

Thanks for the reply mate👍🏻 I’ve ordered a Rail+8 which I’m hopefully getting before next weekend with the thought that I may want to do a few upgrades at some point, namely a switch to Shimano brakes and a better damper for the basic spec Zeb fork the bike comes with. That said I’ve not ridden the bike yet and maybe the brakes and fork will be fine although I’m having the tyres swapped out before I pick the bike up.
The guy at the shop came up with a price of £400 for the extender+bits and £700 for the 600wh battery+cover+bits. Said the 800wh battery would be another £200 which frankly is more than I want to spend! I’m thinking £700 is still a good wedge of money but think it’s much better value than the extender ie 600 as opposed to 250wh, and I don’t want to stick another 3.5 pounds onto an already heavy bike and I like to have a bottle on the bike.
Like I said I haven’t got the bike yet and I’ve not ridden a Bosch motored bike before so will need to get used to what modes to use and what sort of range I get out of the 800 battery but think I will definitely be looking at another battery going forward.
