Had the rig now for about 9 months.
Have ridden around 700km on it, mostly single track and jump trails.

On the last couple of rides, I have noticed a large increase in the amount of rattle I am getting - it appears to be from the rear of the bike, but could be projecting through the frame.

I have gone through and torqued every bolt I can see to spec, so am assuming that it's now either the battery or the motor.
Has onyone who has experience with these bikes experienced the same? Is there an easy solution?

It's really noticeable, even under pedal load, so it's not the usual "Shimano Motor Rattle".

My EP6 got noisier the longer I rode it. But I mostly noticed it descending. I did have my chainring spider nut come loose. Which caused a noise I thought was coming from the transmission. I changed the chain mistakenly as a result. And only found the loose chainring spider nut, when it got so loose I could see the chainring moving.

You have had the problem for a while now and you will have checked all the likely suspects. How about some unlikely ones?

My 2021 Merida eOne Sixty has a tool that is set into the rear axle (for removing the axle) it looks a bit like quick release lever. It's on the non-drive side. Mine has always been tight, but I guess it might be loose enough to rattle but without falling out on yours, if you still have one on the 2024.

Is your cassette the type that has clusters of gears rivetted together? If so, are they still secure?

Rear freehub failed on my e160 8000 but it's more of a rotational ratchet sound that would get progressively louder rather than a rattle. It did come and go though depending on the ride length - i.e. it only started making the noise once I think it had time to heat up sufficiently normally after a couple of miles pedalling. Actually thought it was motor for quite some time but changed the freehub body and all good since. Just in case it's similar - here's a vid I took at the time of the noise it was making...

Funnily enough, I did check the hub tool/axle lever, but that's not the cause (tried riding without it).

Next step in the investigation will be to remove the rear wheel and check everything from axle to hub to cassette.
I do need a good excuse for some new tools, so this might be just the reason to get them.

Different noise, but I think I would have been hard pressed to diagnose that one too! I would've put that down to chain, probably!

Update: it's in the shop for diagnosis.
As it happens, the guy that built my bike when I bought it has moved to the shop where I get any work done, so he knows the bike.
He said they'll take it out for a ride and see what they can find, but initial checks didn't show up any issues with the rear wheel/hub - i.e. no play or rattling about, but he'll give it a good look over and let me know.
Here's hoping it's not a Shimano motor failure.

Yep. I rebuilt my SLX hub on that original Merida E160 700 that I had. The bearings were shot, but also the cups were damaged, which really concerned me. Looks like water gets in and sits in the cups, and rusts the cup and bearings

I ended up replacing that hub with a Kooser sealed bearing hub. About AUD$80. They have been much longer lasting.

But I do lace up my own wheels, so no labour costs to replace it.

Yeah, thankfully this was all under warranty and Shimano supplied the parts while the bike shop provided labour at less than cost.
If I’d taken it back to where i bought it, it wouldn’t have cost me a cent, but I don’t know their mechanics.

It's quite disappointing, but SLX & XT hubs from 2022-2024 are known to be problematic, unfortunately.
I wish I'd had generic Merida hubs, but as long as I am covered by Warranty, I'm OK.
