Kenevo Gen1 2023 Fox 40 Forks on Kenevo (Full Fat)?

Im really enjoying my Kenevo custom build - a little too much! But I'm always messing with things......

A few have messaged me on Facebook and recommended the Fox 40 for the Kenevo, even for Enduro type riding.
They are not heavy at around 2.8kg, apparently have a good turning radius for the switchbacks and stiffness off the chart. You can change the travel to 190mm.

I have increased the stroke on the rear (almost 190mm of travel), so I was wondering about a "what if" scenario. I know it seems counterintuitive considering I've just taken some RS dual crown forks off (unused!) from new.

Has anyone tried the 40's on their Kenevo? If so what type of riding did you do on it?

I pissed around for ages with the boxxers, various travel between 180 to 200, the rc2.1 damper, MRP ramp control. I never really liked how they performed. Maybe it was the 56mm offset of the 29"?
The 40 at 200mm at 52mm offset is superb. I feel no need to drop them to 190. Steering lock is a non issue. I only ride bikeparks.
axle to crown can be dropped to around 595mm with no clearance issues.

Personally I wouldnt dream of fitting a flexi wobbly single crown fork to any of my bikes. I just don't like them. They just look like a csu creak waiting to happen.

You need to respray the Audi to match the kenevo ☺️

Nice. Have you tried Ohlins DH38?
I ran an Ohlins DH38 with a bike yoke yoke, enduro 29er shock extension and a custom offset bushing rear shock for 200mm front and rear.
I loved this bike and took it everywhere. Sure it was a little on the slack side (62/63 ha from memory) but it was plush as and plowed gravity. Tight twisty switchbacks forced me to learn some trials skills but that added to the fun for me. To be able to run essentially a DH bike around any type of trail was always a good laugh.

I also forgot, I ran it in mullet (27.5/29) mode. Couldn’t get a rear 29 in it without clearance. I did almost modify the rear triangle to make it fit but came to my senses and realised I am not an engineer. It worked well though.

Fyi I also drilled out the seat tube (with a whole saw) to fit a 170 AXS all the way down.
Doesn’t remove anything structual (once again I am no engineer) but the bike is still in the family and hasn’t cracked or broken.

Interesting that a 29" 38 @ 180mm a2c is 594mm.
A 29" 40 @ 203mm a2c is officially 602mm but can be reduced to 595mm safely with no interference
So are you saying that there will be minimal geo impact on a 40? I’m serious about buying some.

Yes. At the official a2c there is a clearance of 8mm between the seals contacting the crown and plenty of space with a 2.5 tyre also hitting the crown.
This would be reduced with a mudguard. I don't run mudguards, as I don't ride in the mud or wet 😊
Obviously 13mm could be removed from a2c with a 190mm airshaft.
EDIT note the biggest change will offset. 52mm as standard on a 40, dunno what a 38 is, probably less. Whether anyone will notice this after a few mins of riding? I suspect not.
I would also double up on the fork bumpers to spread the load in a crash. I've seen kenevos with dented frames due to the bumper hitting the frame hard.

Thanks for that. When you say double up do you mean put one over another to get a larger ‘cushion’

Zoom into my pic. 2 bumpers per leg next to each other. I think the weld area is strongest personally.
