Heads up, to anyone wanting to install a regular metric shock to the 2022 9.8 or 9.9 Rail, they use a different shock bolt to the prior year models.

Its listed below, but you'll need the 5258210 lower and 5258209 upper bolts. I think these are the exact bolts that the new Slash uses too.

Think these are the same bolts I used to fit a metric ohlins on my 2020 9.8.

2021 Slash indicates a different part number for the upper shock axle, 599898. Lower shock axle for 2021 Slash and 2022 Rail indicates the same part number.
2020 Rail has same upper shock axle, 599898, but different lower shock axle, 599900.

It's confusing.

I wonder if the difference is the bolt head at 18.5 mm vs 16.5 mm. I don't know.

I need these bolts but these are extremely expensive. Has anyone found an equivalent third party solution? McMaster carr perhaps?

It’s battle out there with pricing. I ended up buying the upper shock mounts and lower shock mounts. There were not extremely expensive, but they did seem excessively expensive. I was angry about it but I bought them, mounted a Fox X2 air shock and the bike rides significantly better than with the factory 2020 reAktiv shock. Now I don’t even think about it.

Hi,

I bought the mounting bolt 18.5 head from Trek, the axle itself has a 18.5, however the end cap is 16mm instead of 18.5mm, is it what I should use or Trek sent the wrong end cap bolt to me?
