Hello all, new member here and new to e-bikes. I can get both a 2019 base turbo levo and 2018 Turbo Levo FSR Comp Carbon 6Fattie/29 for pretty much the same price. Does the new improvements in motor, controls, battery and frame/weight warrant the purchase of the 2019? I'm concerned with all these issues I hear in the motor cover/sponge and noise.

Thanks for your input in advance.

I think the best thing to do is try them. We've all bought something based on someone else's views and then thought "I wonder what the other one was like?". The good thing about trying them is that you'll know which one you'll want. They're both great bikes :)

Bang per buck with anything is buying last years higher spec for the same price as the new years lower spec. So that's what I would base my decision off primarily. Seeing some pictures of the 2019 model's motor casing design may scare some people, me included but don't let that factor alone steer your decision :)

Make sure you ride both. Ignore the spec, that can be changed over time as required but the ride is much harder to alter.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can't even get a 2019 unless I preorder and they can bring the 2018 in but no one has one local to ride ?

I've not even heard you mention wheel size and frame weight. Probably far more noticeable than motor.

Like 29ers? If you do, there's no guesswork.

It was a tough call but I got the 2018 because I got it well below the price of a 2019 base model and got them to throw in some things.
