Hi ya’ll doing? I’m from SE Louisiana USA. and my spot is Bogue Chitto State Park. Having clanking noises in the motor after setting the KOM for pedal strikes this past weekend.
Spesh rep said I have a Brose motor. I thought I had the Mahle. $780 USD for new motor, $400 for a motor rebuild not including parts..should I put up with the noise until I can buy a full powered bike? (which is 2 yrs away) Spesh rep wouldn’t comment on a Gen 4 Levo motor..Also a few other things…
I’m 6ft. , 33” inseam, 167lbs and I’m considering 165mm cranks…
My bike is a 2021 Expert Carbon L running Maxxis Forecaster front Rekon rear at 22-24 psi, 2024 Fox Float X2 set between 215 and 225 psi (I think)..Most of my striking come on roots and small stumps due to poor timing… just wish the bottom bracket wasn’t so low…

If you have a Levo SL, you have a Mahle 1.1 motor. I run 160mm cranks on my KSL and LSL with way less pedal strikes. I have had two motors replaced on my 2022 KSL due to side to side play in the cranks but no noises. My 2020 LSL is running well. I run both my bikes mullet. and weigh around 185 lbs @ F18/R20 psi. I would get a motor based on the warranty. Why do you want a full powered emtb?

Thanks for the tip!! Although I love the work out and just get toasted trying To keep up with my 85Nm buddies 🤣

Shortening your crank’s by 5mm (160m) will make a big difference. Good skid plate material is important also.

I have 170 cranks so a full cm for me… wouldn’t it drastically change my body position?

How tall are you?

I suppose I could have added that crank length doesn’t really change your body position …but it does reduce the amount of pedal strikes.
